The new G410 doorbell camera from Aqara brings a breath of fresh air to the smart home world. As a combination of security camera and Matter-compatible hub, the device not only offers high-quality monitoring of the entrance area, but also versatile control functions for the entire networked home. Particularly interesting for technology enthusiasts: the G410 combines AI-supported facial recognition, flexible connection options and multi-protocol support in one device – without any subscription obligation.
Highlights:
- 2K camera with 175° wide angle, f/1.8 aperture and presence detection via mmWave sensor
- Matter-compatible smart home hub with Zigbee, Thread, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi (2.4/5 GHz)
- Face recognition directly in the device, can be used for automation – without cloud compulsion
- Flexible power supply: Mains adapter or battery operation with up to 5 months runtime
Intelligent monitoring with AI and high image quality
With the Aqara G4 (Review | € 119.99 *)we were already able to take a look at a smart video doorbell from the manufacturer in the past. The G410 now wants to go one step further. It initially impresses as a classic doorbell camera – but at a much higher technological level than many competing products. The 2K camera module with an aperture of f/1.8 delivers razor-sharp images with a field of view of 175 degrees.
This reliably captures people directly in front of the door as well as visitors standing to the side. A special feature is the integrated mmWave presence sensor, which detects movements with high precision and largely eliminates false alarms – such as those caused by passing cars or pets. This is supported by AI-supported facial recognition that works locally on the device.
This means that identification takes place without cloud access or a subscription – a decisive advantage for users with high data protection requirements. In addition, facial recognition can be used as a trigger for automations in smart home platforms such as Home Assistant. This provides real added value for power users: automatic door unlocking for known persons or notifications for unknown visitors can be customized.
Smart control center for modern smart homes
The Aqara G410 is not just a camera, but also a fully-fledged smart home hub – with an impressive range of protocols. It functions as a matter controller, thread border router and Zigbee hub. This means that not only Aqara devices can be integrated, but also over 50 device types from other manufacturers, provided they are Matter-compatible. From lighting solutions and door locks to household appliances and even EV charging stations – the G410 serves as a universal control center in the modern home.
With support for Alexa, Google Home, Samsung SmartThings and Apple Home (including HomeKit Secure Video), the hub is also compatible with almost all major ecosystems. The G410 offers a particular advantage for iOS users: integration with HomeKit Secure Video enables particularly secure storage and analysis of video data – either locally on a microSD card (up to 512 GB), in the iCloud or on a local NAS system.
Flexible use indoors and outdoors
Another plus point is the versatility of the G410. The camera can be operated either wired via a low-voltage power supply unit or battery-powered with six AA batteries. In battery mode, the system lasts up to five months – ideal for entrances without a direct power supply.
The G410 is also flexible when it comes to streaming: in addition to the familiar smart displays, it supports RTSP for integration into local monitoring solutions such as Frigate or Blue Iris. Recordings in the Aqara Cloud are end-to-end encrypted as standard. Users receive one free day of storage for six months or can activate a HomeGuardian subscription for up to 90 days – optional, not mandatory.
Price and availability
With the G410, Aqara is launching a real all-rounder on the market: a camera, security solution and Matter hub in one. The powerful hardware, paired with local automation, AI functions without a subscription and comprehensive smart home compatibility, make the device a convincing choice for anyone who wants to make their home safer and smarter – without any ecosystem constraints. The Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410 is now available in stores at a price of € 129.99 *.
