Asus brings a breath of fresh air to its 75% keyboard segment and presents the ROG Azoth X, a revised model of the popular Azoth series. Improved insulation, eye-catching design and cutting-edge technology – the Azoth X offers exciting new features, especially for tech and gaming enthusiasts. This article shows what has changed and whether the price of around 330 euros is justified.

Highlights

  • Hot-swappable ROG NX V2 switch (Snow/Storm) in 75% layout
  • Five-layer sound and vibration insulation with silicone gasket mount
  • Three-sided translucent dye-sublimation PBT keycaps for intense RGB effects
  • Monochrome 256×64 OLED + rotary wheel for quick settings
  • Tri-mode connectivity: USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1 & 2.4 GHz (SpeedNova), up to 8 000 Hz polling rate (wired)

Design, insulation & switches: noticeable improvements

Compared to its predecessor, the Asus ROG Azoth, the design has been significantly modernized. The dye sublimation keycaps not only have an unusual top and front design, but also allow RGB light to shine through three sides – a stylish upgrade. Mechanically, Asus relies on the new ROG NX V2 switches (Snow or Storm), which, according to the manufacturer, are more stable, slightly softer to the touch and acoustically optimized.

Thanks to the hot-swap function, the switch type can be easily replaced. A highlight is the five-layer damping strategy: a silicone mat under the switches plus four layers of PORON foam absorb reverberation and ensure clearer and softer keystrokes. This is supported by a gasket mount and an FR4 positioning plate, which creates a pleasant typing feel with a muted, deep timbre.

Features & Connectivity

The ROG Azoth X offers comprehensive control options:

  • 2-inch OLED display with 256×64 pixels: Displays system and media information, source status, etc. – controlled via a triple/rocker wheel.
  • Tri-mode connection via USB-C, Bluetooth 5.1 or 2.4 GHz radio (SpeedNova). Even up to 8,000 Hz polling rate possible in cable mode.
  • Ergonomic silicone palm rest, three tilt angles and Mac compatibility
  • Fully programmable via Armoury Crate (Windows), macro recording directly on-board, N-key rollover – all usable without additional software.

Performance & typing feel

Thanks to the gasket mount plus foam damping, the keyboard offers a deep, muted sound profile and a smooth typing feel. The ROG NX Snow V2 switches score with low stem wobble and 53 gf full travel, making them lighter than Cherry MX Red.

The result: fluid, responsive inputs with very good stability. Thanks to its 1,000 Hz polling rate (in 2.4 GHz mode), flexible connection options and robust features, the Azoth X is a versatile all-round keyboard for everyday use and gaming.

Price & availability

The Asus ROG Azoth X is aimed at technology and gaming fans who attach great importance to design, sound and customizability. A modern, well thought-out layout with plastic-aluminum housing, colorful, translucent PBT keycaps and a deep, muted typing feel thanks to five-layer insulation make it an attractive premium keyboard. The monochrome OLED display and the rotary wheel are comfort extras with added value. According to the manufacturer, the ROG Azoth X is available immediately. The RRP is around 330 euros.
