With the Spotless Max BCRDW3B, Bosch is launching a new vacuum and mopping robot on the market that aims to attract attention with a combination of powerful technology and sophisticated cleaning. The appliance is characterized in particular by its base station with advanced functions, high suction power and effective mopping. But can it keep up with the competition from the Far East? We took a look at the technical data.

Base station with hot water wash

As befits a modern upper mid-range robot vacuum cleaner, the Bosch Spotless Max BCRDW3B also comes with a matching base station. This should not only vacuum the collected dust and dirt from the robot. It also cleans the two rotating mops. The mops are cleaned automatically and washed with water heated up to 70 °C and then dried to prevent odors from forming.

Bosch specifies a suction power of 11,000 Pascal. In this price range, this is unfortunately no more than average. For comparison: A Dreame L50 Pro Ultra (Review | € 1,129.00 * offers a whopping 19,500 Pascal. So it remains to be seen how well the Bosch works, especially on long-pile carpets. The robot also has rotating mop pads and a brush with particularly dense bristles under the name “Carbon Power Brush”.

Cleaning on edges, navigation & control

Bosch promises that the Spotless Max only leaves a dirt rim of around 2 mm on walls. In corners, the edge is slightly larger, around 30 mm. This means that cleaning along edges is at a very narrow level. This is made possible by the retractable design of one of the mop pads. As soon as the distance sensors detect areas such as skirting boards or other edges, they are automatically extended to increase the range. Speaking of sensors. Bosch also wants to offer modern technology when it comes to navigation.

The robot navigates using LiDAR to detect objects and automatically identify carpets. Bosch relies on a classic LiDAR tower on the top of the device. The manufacturer intends to rely on structured light for obstacle detection. A suitable app is used for operation, as is standard on the market. One cool feature is the quick start of the robot. All you have to do is tap it with your foot.

Price and availability

With the Spotless Max BCRDW3B, Bosch is launching a thoroughly exciting robot vacuum and mop. In particular, the automatic mop cleaning and drying and the high temperature of the wash cleaning sound very promising. At 11,000 Pascal, the suction power is somewhat lacking, but the special carbon brush could make up for this. The Bosch Spotless Max BCRDW3B is currently listed at retailers such as Baur. The price there is 799 euros.
