Samsung is apparently preparing intensively for the Galaxy Unpacked 2026: Initial leaks are already providing exciting insights into the upcoming S series and the next generation of the Galaxy Ring. Here is a compact analysis.
After Galaxy Unpacked is before Galaxy Unpacked
Just last week, we reported on the new products that Samsung presented at its Galaxy Unpacked event. The focus was on new Samsung smartphones from the Galaxy series. But now everyone is already talking about the next Galaxy Unpacked event. The first details about the Galaxy S26 series are already leaking out months before the Unpacked event. Particularly interesting: camera upgrades, model changes for the “Edge” variant and the new Galaxy Ring 2. Anyone interested in technology can be excited – because the leaked information provides a first glimpse of the innovations to come.
Camera offensive for the S26 series
When it comes to camera technology in particular, Samsung wants to really up the ante compared to the Samsung Galaxy S25 series – and in several models at once.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra
The Ultra model seems to focus even more clearly on photo enthusiasts: Confirmed are a 200 megapixel main camera and a 50 MP telephoto lens – presumably with a periscope sensor – as well as an ultra-wide angle (megapixels still unclear). Internal databases confirm the final model abbreviation “NPA3” for the ultra flagship, whereby “NPA” is interpreted internally as “Next Paradigm A1”.
Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge
The currently much-noticed “Edge” offshoot will apparently be even more attractive: Samsung is to increase the ultra-wide angle upgrade from the previous 12 MP to a whopping 50 MP, while the dual camera configuration of 200 MP (main sensor) plus 50 MP (ultra-wide) will remain. This model is also internally codenamed “NPA2”.
Samsung Galaxy S26 (basic version)
All that is currently known about the entry-level model is that it is being developed under the codename “NPA1”. Concrete camera or design information has not yet been provided.
Model portfolio: No S26+ – but Edge!
Samsung appears to be scrapping the classic “Plus” version of the S series. There are currently leaks about three models: S26 Base (SM-S942), S26 Edge (SM-S947) and S26 Ultra (SM-S948). The Galaxy Edge will then apparently take over the role of the mid-range segment – an unusual but strategically logical move on Samsung’s part.
Galaxy Ring 2: Wearable relaunch at the beginning of 2026
The Galaxy Ring 2 will apparently also be unveiled at the same time as the S26 models – also in early 2026. This means that the first-generation Galaxy Ring will already have its first successor. Concrete specs are still missing, but the launch seems to be firmly planned. We are curious to see what will change with this exciting wearable.
Outlook
Samsung apparently wants to redefine the boundaries of mobile photography with the S26 series. The Edge model in particular benefits with an impressive 50 MP ultrawide, while the Ultra remains the top-of-the-range device. The Galaxy Ring 2 completes the portfolio as the first wearable upgrade in 2026. Prices and availability are still open, but are likely to be in line with the previous Galaxy S flagships.
