With the HONOR Magic V5, the Chinese manufacturer is officially launching its most advanced foldable smartphone to date in Germany. The new model aims to show that foldables no longer require any compromises: a slim design, a particularly long-lasting battery, a robust housing and a powerful camera should make the device attractive for both productivity and creativity. The launch is complemented by two other premium devices: the ultra-light HONOR MagicBook Art 14 2025 and the HONOR MagicPad 3.

  • Slim design (8.8 mm, 217 g) with 5,820 mAh silicon-carbon battery
  • Foldable 7.95″ display inside + 6.43″ display outside, both stylus-compatible
  • Triple camera system with 64 MP telephoto, 50 MP main and 50 MP ultra-wide angle
  • Price: from 1,999.90 euros, available immediately in Germany

Elegant design meets robust technology

The Magic V5 is set to be a milestone in the foldable segment. With a thickness of just 8.8 mm and a weight of 217 grams, it is one of the thinnest devices in its class. Particularly noteworthy: despite the slim design, HONOR has installed a 5,820 mAh silicon-carbon battery, which ensures long runtimes. The Snapdragon 8 Elite mobile platform is responsible for performance, which not only stands for high performance but also for advanced on-device AI functions.

The focus is also on durability. The device has IP58/IP59 certification against dust and water, a scratch-resistant NanoCrystal Shield and a carbon fiber-reinforced inner screen panel. This combination makes the Foldable significantly more resistant than previous generations. HONOR is thus addressing the central weakness of many foldable smartphones: the concern about suitability for everyday use.

Camera and AI functions at premium level

The new AI Falcon camera system combines three high-resolution sensors: a 64 MP telephoto camera with periscope technology, a 50 MP main camera and a 50 MP ultra-wide-angle camera. Supported by the HONOR Image Engine, the system delivers AI-supported optimizations such as portrait enhancements, Super Zoom or Motion Sensing Capture. The aim is to keep up with classic high-end smartphones in terms of photography – something where foldables have often lagged behind in the past.

In addition, HONOR integrates a close integration with Google Gemini, the AI assistant that is available directly in the system. Users can have content analyzed live, simplify complex topics or receive answers in real time. With the new TapTap gesture, Gemini can be activated with a double tap on the back. The in-house HONOR Notes app also benefits from AI: summarization, formatting and translation are automatically supported.

Large display for multitasking and creativity

The HONOR Magic V5 offers two screens: a 7.95-inch indoor screen and a 6.43-inch outdoor screen, both with stylus support. In combination with the multi-flex mode, up to three apps can be used simultaneously – for example, editing documents, holding video conferences and comparing online prices, all in parallel on one display.

This is an important advantage for productive users in particular, as foldable smartphones can really come into their own here. HONOR also highlights AI-supported translation and editing tools, including real-time call translation in six languages and image editing via AI (eraser, enhancement, upscaling). This positions the Magic V5 not only as a work tool, but also as a creative tool.

Prices and availability

The HONOR Magic V5 is now available in the colors Ivory White, Black and Dawn Gold. The starting price is 1,999.90 euros. At the same time, HONOR is launching the new MagicBook Art 14 2025 (from 1,699 euros) and the MagicPad 3 (from summer 2025).

Conclusion

With the Magic V5, HONOR shows that foldable smartphones can make the leap into the mainstream. A slim design, long-lasting battery, robust construction and a competitive camera make the device a premium foldable without any noticeable weak points. With a price tag of just under 2,000 euros, it remains a high-end product, but delivers functions that take both productivity and creativity to a new level in everyday life.
