Garmin has released a comprehensive software update for several smartwatches. While some models are already receiving the final version of the new firmware, the update for other watches is initially being made available as a beta. Users can look forward to bug fixes and improvements to functions and the display.

Instinct 3 series receives final update

The biggest change affects the Instinct 3 models, including the Garmin Instinct 3 AMOLED (€ 372.31 *) and the Garmin Instinct E (€ 239.00 *). For these watches, software version 10.36 is no longer being rolled out as a beta, but officially for all users. One of the improvements is that the strobe will now reliably stop as soon as an activity is completed.

In addition, the display of Garmin Connect IQ data fields on the Instinct 3 Solar and Instinct E has been optimized. The temperature display now also works correctly when values above 100 are to be displayed. Another bug that could cause the solar version to crash when the watch was paired with the Running Dynamics Pod has also been fixed.

Beta update for Vivoactive 5 and Venu 3

In addition to the Instinct models, Garmin has also released a new update for the Garmin Vivoactive 5 (€ 227.92 *) and the Venu 3 series. This is software version 16.07, which is currently still in the beta stage and is therefore only available to participants in the Garmin beta program. Garmin has not published details of the specific changes, but there is talk of general improvements and bug fixes.

Availability and installation

While the Instinct 3 models should receive the 10.36 update automatically, users can also initiate the installation manually via the update search on the watch. Owners of a Vivoactive 5 or Venu 3, on the other hand, must either register for the beta program or wait for the later final rollout.

Conclusion

With the new updates, Garmin is further expanding its smartwatch models and ensuring greater stability and reliability in everyday use. Owners of the Instinct 3 series in particular will benefit from specific bug fixes that directly improve the range of functions. Users of the Vivoactive 5 and Venu 3 will have to be patient, but can already benefit from the first adjustments in the beta program. Overall, Garmin is once again demonstrating that continuous software maintenance is a high priority.
