A brand new beta update with the version number 23.06 brings a much-anticipated feature to the Garmin Fenix 7 (€ 439.90 *), Epix and other models such as Enduro 2, Quatix 7 and MARQ Gen 2: the passcode function for device security. At the same time, the update fixes two serious bugs that could lead to crashes. Version 23.06 fixes sensitive vulnerabilities and enhances user-friendliness at the same time.

Highlights

  • Fenix 7 and Co. receive the passcode function for the first time in beta version 23.06
  • A bug in the battery notification settings that caused crashes has been fixed
  • A bug when loading routes has also been fixed
  • Update only available for beta testers so far, no official rollout date known

Garmin Fenix 7 now with passcode on the watch

The highlight of the beta update is the integration of a passcode for the watch, which has already helped previous Garmin models to be delivered. Users can now secure their device with a PIN code. Surprisingly, the new feature is missing from the official patch notes, but users reported after the 23.05 update that it was activated unexpectedly.

Garmin Fenix 7: Bug fixing without compromise

Version 23.06 specifically fixes two critical software bugs:

  • A problem in the battery notification settings that could cause crashes
  • Difficulties loading routes, some of which were not displayed at all

These bug fixes should noticeably increase system stability. Especially for outdoor users and athletes who rely on reliable navigation and notifications.

Current status & availability

The update is currently available as beta version 23.06 and can be installed manually by registered beta testers via the watch in the settings. An exact date for the official rollout to all models has not yet been set. Users must therefore continue to be patient until the stable version is released.

Conclusion

The beta update 23.06 provides real added value with the new passcode function, especially for security-conscious users. The extension protects the watch in the event of loss and is already effective in beta form. At the same time, the bug fixes increase reliability in critical areas such as battery settings and route navigation. The version is currently only available via the beta program. The stable rollout schedule remains open. Passcode function and bug fixes offer great security and stability. It remains to be seen when exactly the final version of the update will be available for all Fenix 7 models.
