With the Pixel 10 lineup, Google is launching the tenth generation of its smartphone series – and is focusing everything on the new Tensor G5 chip. In addition to the classic Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro models, the XL model is also coming. Together, the devices should not only offer more performance, but also a deeper integration of artificial intelligence (AI). Google is thus combining a modernized design, more powerful hardware and smart functions that should make everyday life noticeably easier.

  • New Tensor G5 chip with integrated Gemini Nano AI for on-device intelligence
  • Revised camera systems: 5x telephoto on the Pixel 10, up to 100x Pro Res Zoom on the Pixel 10 Pro
  • Pixel 10 Fold expands the series with a foldable model with a large OLED display
  • Qi2 wireless charging with magnetic accessories and longer update warranty (7 years)
  • Market launch on August 28, prices from 799 US dollars

Modern design meets sustainability

Google has further developed the design of its Pixel series without giving up the distinctive camera bar. The back is made of polished glass, framed by a frame with a satin finish. In addition to classics such as Obsidian or Frost, Google also offers striking new colors such as Indigo, Lemongrass, Moonstone or Jade. The aim is to give the Pixel smartphones not only a modern, but also an individual appearance.

Google is also focusing on sustainability: never before has a Pixel used so many recycled materials. There are also innovations in the charging options: With Pixelsnap, Qi2 is supported for the first time. This not only means faster wireless charging, but also the option to use magnetic accessories. While the Pixel 10 has a 6.3-inch Actua display with an impressive 3000 nits of brightness, the Pixel 10 Pro XL has a 6.8-inch Super Actua panel. The Pixel 10 Fold goes its own way with its flexible OLED display: it can be folded into a compact tablet and is particularly aimed at multitasking and entertainment.

Tensor G5: The heart of the new Pixel generation

Inside all models is the new Tensor G5 chip, which according to Google represents the biggest leap in performance since the introduction of the Tensor series. The chip was developed and optimized in collaboration with Google DeepMind to execute AI functions directly on the device – securely, quickly and without a constant cloud connection.

The Gemini Nano AI, which is running on a Pixel for the first time, is particularly in focus. It enables features such as Magic Cue, which proactively offers users information and suggestions. For example, flight details can be automatically displayed during a phone call with an airline or suitable photos can be provided in a chat. Everything happens locally on the device, which improves both speed and data protection.

The user experience also benefits from the new hardware: the entire Pixel 10 series supports Material 3 Expressive, an updated interface with smoother animations, dynamic designs and even greater personalization. This is complemented by Google’s promise of seven years of OS and security updates, which makes the devices attractive in the long term.

Camera: more zoom, more intelligence

For years, the camera has been the flagship of the Pixel series – and Google has also raised the bar with the Pixel 10. Even the basic model now offers a 5x telephoto lens, which, together with Super Res Zoom, zooms in up to 20x. Autofocus and improved light stabilization should enable razor-sharp images even in difficult conditions.

The Pro models go even further: Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL have Google’s best triple camera system to date and the exclusive Pro Res Zoom function. This allows subjects to be captured with up to 100x magnification – and thanks to generative AI, fine details are not only digitally enhanced, but intelligently supplemented. This makes extreme zooms truly usable for the first time.

Another new feature is the Camera Coach, an AI-supported feature that provides tips on image composition and thus introduces beginners to photography in particular. Google is thus expanding the range of functions from pure photography to creative support.

Google Pixel 10 and Pixel 10 Pro price: when will the smartphone be cheaper?

If you don’t want to pay the full price for the Google Pixel 10 generation, you should wait a little. According to a current price forecast from idealo, both models are likely to drop significantly in price just a few weeks after market launch. This is based on the data for the two previous generations, the Pixel 8 and Pixel 9.

Idealo assumes that a purchase should be worthwhile after around four months: The Google Pixel 10 is expected to cost less than 700 euros at this point – a drop of around 22 percent. The price of the Pixel 10 Pro is expected to be reduced by 20 percent.

Towards the end of 2025, for example, the Pixel 10 should be available for less than 700 euros, after which the price should continue to fall, and after nine to ten months the price should even drop below the 600 euro mark.

The Pixel 10 Pro could be available for around 880 euros by the end of 2025. If you wait six months before buying, you could pay less than 800 euros for the Pro model for the first time

So it’s worth keeping an eye on the prices here:

Conclusion

With the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and the new Pixel 10 Pro XL, Google is making a strong statement in the smartphone industry. Tensor G5 and Gemini Nano make AI an omnipresent helper, while design, sustainability and software support ensure long-term appeal. The camera in particular remains a highlight, this time supplemented by generative AI and the exclusive Pro Res Zoom. With the Fold model, Google is also opening up a new device class that should appeal to multitaskers and technology enthusiasts in particular.

Prices start at 899 euros (Pixel 10), 1,099 euros (Pixel 10 Pro) and 1,299 euros (Pixel 10 Pro XL). The Pixel 10 Fold is positioned above this price range and starts at €1,899. All devices will be available from August 28 and can already be pre-ordered.
