The new generation of Google Pixel Buds is here. With the Pixel Buds 2a, Google is bringing active noise cancellation to its A-series for the first time and combining this with a lightweight, comfortable design. Powered by the specially developed Tensor A1 chip and supported by Google AI, the in-ears are designed to impress with music as well as calls and smart use.

  • First A-Series model with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC)
  • Up to 20 hours runtime with charging case
  • Integrated Gemini support for smart help on the go
  • New, lighter design with adjustable fit and IP54 certification

Comfortable fit with new design

The Pixel Buds 2a are visually similar to the Pixel Buds Pro 2, but are lighter and smaller than their predecessors from the A series. A swivel stabilizer and four different ear tips ensure that the buds can be individually adjusted. Thanks to IP54 certification, they can also withstand sweat and rain, making them particularly attractive for sporting activities. The buds are available in the colors “Iris” and “Hazel”, which fit seamlessly into the current Pixel ecosystem.

The focus is clearly on suitability for everyday use: lightweight comfort, a stable fit and protection against moisture. Google is therefore targeting users who want to use headphones for commuting as well as for sports or work.

Sound quality with Tensor A1 and ANC

At the heart of the Pixel Buds 2a is the Tensor A1 chip, which was specially developed for audio calculations. Active Noise Cancelling, including Silent Seal 1.5, has thus found its way into the A series for the first time. A newly developed speaker driver and a high-frequency sound chamber are designed to provide detailed sound and powerful bass.

Google also promises clear voice quality during phone calls: windscreens and AI-supported audio optimization filter out background noise so that conversations remain intelligible. The Pixel Buds 2a thus technically close the gap between the affordable A-Series models and the premium Pro versions.

More endurance and longer service life

A key upgrade concerns the battery life. Without ANC, the Pixel Buds 2a last twice as long as the first A-Series generation. With noise canceling activated, up to seven hours of music playback are possible, a total of 20 hours with the charging case.

Particularly interesting: for the first time, the battery in the charging case can be replaced, which significantly extends the life of the earphones. Google is thus taking a step towards sustainability and offering users more value in the long term.

Smart support with Gemini

Also on board is Google Gemini, which can be used directly via the Pixel Buds. Voice commands or touch gestures can be used to summarize messages, get recommendations or complete tasks – all without having to pick up your smartphone.

The Buds also support multipoint connections and Fast Pair. This means they can be paired with several devices simultaneously and connected at lightning speed. The “Find Hub” app can also be used to locate lost earbuds on a map or find them again using a ringtone.

Conclusion

With the Pixel Buds 2a, Google is expanding its A-series with a strong overall package: active noise cancellation, long battery life, smart AI features and a comfortable, weatherproof design. The buds can already be pre-ordered for a price of 149 euros. They will be available in the Google Store and from selected retailers from October 9.
