Bosch is expanding its smart home portfolio with a motion detector that is suitable for professionals. In addition to motion detection, the detector II [+M] can do a lot more. And it even comes with Matter support.

Combinability and reliability

Integration into the Bosch Smart Home world means that detected movements can be processed directly in automations. This not only involves switching lights, for example, but also triggering the alarm system. You receive a push notification on your smartphone to validate the message. In combination with a camera, a live image is even possible. Pets up to a size of 80 cm are detected by an integrated filter and false alarms are minimized. You also receive a tamper message if the detector is torn off.

The Bosch quality is also reflected in the EN grade 2 certification. The motion detector II [+M] is therefore also partly aimed at professionals. To specify: Grade 2 of DIN EN 50131 is recommended by the police for securing private households. It assumes that burglars have at least limited experience and have tools at their disposal.

Built-in orientation light and automations

As the motion detector II [+M] also has an integrated brightness sensor and a light, it can be switched on in dimly lit rooms when movement is detected to provide orientation. You can set the sensitivity and intensity of the light individually. The light can also be used as a discreet status indicator for the alarm system.

The temperature sensor can also be used for many other automations. Switch lights on/off, regulate the temperature of the heating or provide shade in the home or on the patio. What you use the motion detector for is entirely up to you. The Matter standard also plays into your hands here. So you don’t need a Bosch Smart Home, but can integrate it into existing systems – at least via Matter. As always, however, the functions may then be limited.

We can also use the detector with IP55 certification for outdoor use. Boss also offers mounting options. Adhesives are included. The bracket can also be fixed with screws. However, free-standing use is also possible. There is even a push button that can be used to switch on the integrated light.

Available immediately

The device with the catchy name Bosch Motion Detector II [+M] is now available for 49.99 euros.
