With the D400, Jonsbo brings a breath of fresh air to the world of midi tower cases. The manufacturer, known for its elegant and often minimalist designs, dares to go for a more striking look this time: a slanted, D-shaped glass side panel visually sets the case apart from the crowd, while the interior remains classic and functional. In addition to the design, the D400 also scores with modern features such as Back-Connect support, modular drive mounts and generous cooling options. The model could be an exciting option, especially for users who value a tidy setup and a lot of flexibility in their choice of hardware.

  • Slanted D-glass side with a clear view of the inner workings
  • Supports Back-Connect mainboards for clean cable management
  • Space for high-end hardware: GPU up to 450 mm, CPU cooler up to 169 mm
  • No fans pre-installed, but comprehensive cooling options available

Eye-catching window design meets functional interior design

The Jonsbo D400 immediately catches the eye with its unusual glass side. Unlike conventional cases, the transparent surface is not rectangular, but runs at a slight angle in a D-shape – a design element that makes the case stand out particularly when viewed from the side and front. The actual interior, on the other hand, remains rectangular and classic in design, which makes hardware installation easier.

Inside, users can expect a familiar layout: the power supply unit sits at the bottom, with the mainboard, graphics card and cooling system visible above it. The absence of a classic drive cage is striking here. Jonsbo is thus following the trend of moving mechanical hard disks more and more into the background. Instead, there are flat brackets – one under the power supply unit and two more on the back of the mainboard tray. These each accommodate 2.5 or 3.5 inch drives, with a clear focus on simplified, unobtrusive installation. This supports the desire for a tidy interior – especially in combination with a Back Connect mainboard, where cable connections are relocated to the rear.

Expandability and cooling without restrictions

The D400 is generous when it comes to hardware compatibility. It supports mainboards up to ATX format and accommodates CPU coolers up to 169 mm high – enough for almost all standard models on the market. There is even a length of up to 450 mm available for graphics cards. The slot bezels can also be rotated to mount the GPU vertically. However, the riser cable required for this is not included in the scope of delivery.

In terms of cooling, the case relies on an open concept – but without active ventilation ex works. Users must add all fans themselves. Ventilation is provided via the base and side panels: fans on the power supply panel draw in fresh air through a mesh on the side. Additional fans can be installed on the right-hand side panel (up to three 120 mm models), on the lid (two 140 mm or three 120 mm) and at the rear (one 120 mm fan). A 360 mm radiator also fits into the side and top of the case. However, there is only a dust filter at the bottom – those who value clean internal air may have to upgrade.

Connection options and equipment

Jonsbo offers a modern but limited selection of I/O panels. In addition to two USB 3.0 ports (USB 3.2 Gen 1), there is also a USB-C port (USB 3.2 Gen 2) and classic HD audio sockets. This should be sufficient for most applications, especially as the ports are easily accessible at the top edge of the front.

The casing is predominantly made of steel, supplemented by glass and plastic elements. With a volume of just under 60 liters (488 × 239 × 514 mm) and a weight of 8.5 kilograms, the D400 has enough substance to be stable even when fully equipped. The choice of a white or black color variant rounds off the range.

Conclusion

The Jonsbo D400 combines eye-catching design with well thought-out functionality. The slanted glass side is a visual highlight, but the interior remains pleasantly classic and flexible. Anyone looking for a case that offers modern features such as Back-Connect, vertical GPU mounting and radiator support will find what they are looking for here.

With an entry-level price starting at around 79 euros, the D400 is in the mid-price segment and offers a balanced mix of style and technology. The only clear disadvantage is that it is supplied without a fan – so if you want the D400 to be ready for immediate use, you should plan for additional investment.
