Acer is expanding its Chromebook range with three new devices. Two new Chromebook Plus notebooks in 14 and 16 inches are now available and are aimed at users looking for more performance, longer battery life and AI-supported functions. In addition, Acer is launching the Chromebook Tab 311 in September, a versatile convertible that combines mobility and flexibility.

  • Chromebook Plus 514 (14-inch) and 516 (16-inch) available now
  • Twice the performance of previous models, up to Intel Core 7
  • 12 months Google AI Pro Plan included free of charge
  • Chromebook Tab 311 (10.95 inch) available from September

AI-supported functions and more performance

With the new models, Acer is focusing on a close integration of hardware and Google services. Compared to the previous generation, the Chromebook Plus notebooks offer twice the performance, more RAM and additional storage space. The centerpiece is the integration of Google AI, which is supplemented by the free Google AI Pro plan for 12 months. This gives users access to Gemini Advanced (model 2.5 Pro), 2 TB of cloud storage and direct integration of AI functions in Gmail, Docs and other applications.

The AI-supported NotebookLM assistant, which supports research, word processing and even audio overviews, is also particularly interesting. Creatives can also generate video scenes with the new AI filmmaking tool Flow – based on the powerful Veo 3 model. The Chromebooks thus not only bring productivity but also creativity to the fore and offer real added value in everyday life.

Displays, connections and features

The Chromebooks are designed for flexible everyday use. Both models have WUXGA displays in 16:10 format with up to 300 nits brightness and optional touchscreens. This makes the devices suitable for working in bright environments. This is complemented by a wide range of connections, including two USB-C 3.2 Gen 2, two USB-A 3.2 Gen 1 and HDMI.
An integrated fingerprint sensor ensures security, while a quick insert button speeds up the workflow.

The devices also remain reliable on the move: With up to Wi-Fi 7 support, high speeds and low latency are guaranteed. The robust design according to MIL-STD-810H also guarantees resilience in everyday use. In terms of memory and performance, the models offer up to 16 GB LPDDR5X RAM and 512 GB NVMe SSD memory. A backlit keyboard and 4G LTE are optionally available.

Chromebook Plus 514 and 516 in detail

The Chromebook Plus 514 (CB514-6H) is based on an Intel Core 3 N355 processor, a compact 14-inch WUXGA display and an FHD webcam. It is aimed at users who are looking for solid performance in a handy format.

The larger Chromebook Plus 516 (CB516-1H) offers significantly more performance with up to an Intel Core 7 processor, 16-inch WUXGA display and up to 15.5 hours of battery life, making it suitable for more demanding workloads. Both models are also available as enterprise versions, which also feature QHD webcams and certifications such as TCO 10.0 and EPEAT Gold – particularly relevant for companies and institutions with a focus on sustainability and IT security.

Convertible option: Acer Chromebook Tab 311

The Acer Chromebook Tab 311, a slim 2-in-1 device, will follow in September. The 10.95-inch IPS display with WUXGA resolution is powered by a MediaTek Kompanio 520 processor. With up to 8 GB RAM and 128 GB memory (expandable via MicroSD up to 2 TB), it offers sufficient performance for study, work and entertainment.

The Tab 311 offers maximum flexibility with a USI 2.0 pen, detachable folio keyboard and portfolio case. An 8,000 mAh battery provides over 10 hours of battery life, while Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.3 and optional LTE ensure connectivity on the go. With a weight of just 1 kg and a height of 9.05 mm, it also meets the MIL-STD-810H standard and thus offers robustness with high mobility. Buyers also receive three months of Gemini Advanced and 2 TB of cloud storage via Google One AI Premium.

Conclusion

With the new Chromebook Plus models, Acer is focusing on more performance, strong AI integration and modern connectivity. The 14- and 16-inch devices are available now and start from €549. Anyone looking for a lightweight and versatile device will find an exciting alternative in the Chromebook Tab 311, starting at 349 euros from September. Acer is thus positioning its new devices as versatile companions for everyday life, work, study and creative projects.
