Samsung is starting the next major software rollout: With One UI 8, the company is distributing its latest operating system update to a steadily growing number of Galaxy devices. In addition to the Galaxy S25 series, which was the first to be equipped with the new interface, models such as the Galaxy S24 series, the Galaxy Z Fold6, the Galaxy Z Flip6 and the Galaxy S24 FE are set to follow over the course of the year. The focus is on multimodal artificial intelligence (AI), which is intended to simplify everyday life and at the same time provide protection through enhanced security architecture.

  • Contextual AI functions for personalized, proactive suggestions
  • Samsung Knox security architecture with KEEP, Knox Matrix and PQC protection for networks
  • Multimodal interaction through Gemini Live and Circle to Search with Google
  • Optimized user experience for different form factors, including foldables and tablets

Smart AI functions for everyday life

One UI 8 relies on multimodal artificial intelligence that combines visual, contextual and auditory information. Users benefit from intelligent support in routines such as navigation, media consumption and communication. Functions such as Now Brief provide personalized daily updates – from traffic information and reminders to recommendations for music and videos. At the same time, AI is being integrated even more deeply into wearables such as the Galaxy Watch to embed health and fitness data into individual everyday life.

Gaming is also getting an upgrade: Circle to Search with Google allows you to look up highlighted content directly in context while playing. Tips, strategies or background information on game characters can be displayed. Thanks to translation functions, accessing information in different languages is even easier, with the text appearing directly when scrolling.

Particularly noteworthy is Gemini Live, which enables seamless interaction with the AI. Instead of having to switch between apps, the AI understands the visual and auditory context and can respond on the spot – whether it’s a captured image or an ongoing conversation.

Focus on safety

With the growing integration of AI, Samsung is increasingly focusing on the protection of sensitive data. The new Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) creates encrypted storage areas for apps so that each application can only access its own data. This enables personalization through AI without compromising privacy.

In addition, Knox Matrix builds a security network across multiple connected devices. If one is identified as being at risk, it can be automatically logged out of the Samsung account, while all other linked Galaxy devices are informed. This is complemented by Secure Wi-Fi with post-quantum cryptography (PQC), which ensures robust data protection even in public networks.

With this security ecosystem, Samsung is taking the balance between smart functionality and IT security to a new level – a decisive factor for users in sensitive application areas.

Optimized adaptation for foldables, tablets and large displays

With One UI 8, the user interface is adapted even more closely to the diverse form factors in the Galaxy portfolio. Tablet and foldable users can easily integrate AI-generated content into projects using drag-and-drop thanks to Multi-Window. Creative tools such as the drawing assistant or writing assistant provide fresh options for fluid content production.

Exclusive functions have been integrated on the Infinity front display of the Galaxy Z Flip. The new Now Bar not only displays active apps and the media player, but also supports third-party integration. At the same time, users can customize the cover screen – including automatic wallpaper recommendations, emojis and color variations.

Other highlights include the Audio Eraser, which filters out ambient noises such as wind or traffic in videos and audio recordings, as well as AI-supported creative tools such as Portrait Studio, which transforms animal expressions into artistic portraits. At the same time, interpreters and call subtitles help to overcome language barriers more quickly.

Conclusion

With One UI 8, Samsung is focusing heavily on AI-supported functions that make everyday life easier and open up new creative possibilities at the same time. Whether context-based suggestions, multimodal interactions or security mechanisms based on the latest encryption technology – the update combines convenience with protection. The roll-out has started with the Galaxy S25 series and will be successively extended to other current devices such as the Galaxy Z Fold6, the Z Flip6 as well as the Galaxy S24 models and the S24 FE. This will give millions of users access to a new generation of intelligent smartphone experience over the course of the year.
