It is finally official. The new Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ smartphones were officially unveiled at the Galaxy Unpacked event. We have summarized all information and details for you.
Power and performance
As expected, Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ rely on the in-house Exynos 2200 SoC, which is manufactured in a 4nm process, at least in Europe. The high-performance processor lays the foundation for Samsung’s most powerful AI and ML processing to date and offers strong performance for a wide range of applications. In addition, network behavior analysis can adjust the performance of the apps currently in use.
It is supported by 8 GB or 12 GB of working memory, as well as 128 GB or 256 GB of system memory, which cannot be expanded. The Galaxy S22 is equipped with a smart battery (3,700 mAh) and a 25-watt fast charging function. The Galaxy S22+ also has a strong battery (4,500 mAh) that can last longer than a day on a single charge and has a 45-watt fast charging function.
In terms of design, little has changed compared to the predecessor. At least the plastic back has been replaced by high-quality Gorilla Glass Victus. The Galaxy S22 has a 6.1-inch AMOLED screen and weighs 168 grams. The S22+, on the other hand, is around 200 grams with its 6.6-inch display.
The resolution of the Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ displays is FHD+, and dynamic refresh rates between 10 Hz and 120 Hz are also enabled. The ultrasonic fingerprint sensor for unlocking the smartphone is located underneath the display. However, the display brightness in particular has been greatly improved. The S22 has a peak brightness of 1,300 nit, while the S22+ offers a peak brightness of 1,750 nit.
Camera for Nightography: The camera setup
With the new Nightography features of the Galaxy S22 series, the camera can capture a lot of light to bring out details clearly and reproduce colors more brilliantly, even in the dark. To achieve this, the S22 and S22+ use a 23 percent increase in brightness compared to the predecessor and a new Adaptive Pixel technology.
Both the Galaxy S22 and S22+ are equipped with a powerful 50 MP main camera, a 10 MP telephoto lens and a 12 MP ultra-wide-angle lens. When shooting video with friends, the new Auto Framing feature detects and tracks up to ten people and automatically adjusts the camera’s focus. The selfie camera on the front comes to 10 megapixels.

Samsung Knox Vault
The Galaxy S22 series also features the Samsung Knox Vault security platform. It consists of a secure processor plus memory and isolates sensitive data such as passwords, biometrics or blockchain keys from the device’s main operating system.
App access can also be easily regulated via the One UI privacy dashboard. In addition, an indicator shows whether a currently used app has access to the microphone or the camera. The Galaxy S22 series also has several new security features, including ARM Micro Architecture, which prevents cyberattacks on the operating system and memory.
Prices and Availability
Samsung Galaxy S22 and S22+ will officially be available in stores on February 25, 2022. Starting with the Galaxy S22 5G 128 GB at an MSRP of 849.00 euros. The Galaxy S22 5G 256 GB is priced at 899.00 Euros.
The larger Galaxy S22+ 5G 128 GB is priced at 1,049.00 Euros, while the Galaxy S22+ 5G 256 GB is priced at 1,099.00 Euros. Both smartphones are offered in the colors Pink Gold, Green, Phantom Black and Phantom White. Exclusively in the Samsung online store, the colors Graphite, Cream, Violet and Sky Blue are available.
