Samsung has launched the beta program for One UI 7 and offers first insights into the innovative security and privacy features of the new user interface. The update, which is now available for the Galaxy S24 series, uses state-of-the-art security measures such as Knox Matrix and new privacy options that further increase protection and control over personal data. Here are the key details.

The most important features at a glance

  • Knox Matrix: A multi-layered security solution for networked devices.
  • Maximum restrictions: Advanced options for network and data security.
  • Improved data protection: Optimized recovery functions and identity protection.
  • Beta program: Available now for the Galaxy S24 series in selected countries.

Smart security with Knox Matrix

Knox Matrix, Samsung’s multi-layered security solution, is a central component of One UI 7. The technology monitors connected Samsung devices via a private blockchain called Trust Chain. The new dashboard shows the security status of all connected devices at a glance. A green status indicates security, while threat warnings provide helpful recommendations for action.

With advanced data protection and recovery features, users can securely transfer personal data to a new device by using their security key (e.g. PIN or fingerprint). Thanks to Credential Sync with Passkeys, signing in to Samsung accounts and other devices is faster and more secure with biometric authentication.

Improved protection through “Maximum restrictions”

The “Maximum Restrictions” option offers additional protection against cyber threats. New in One UI 7 is the ability to block 2G services to prevent eavesdropping attempts and to prevent automatic connections to insecure Wi-Fi networks. There are also improvements for shared content: Users can remove location data from photos and block automatic downloading of attachments.

These measures make One UI 7 a valuable tool for personal data security, especially in times of growing cyber threats.

Additional security features for devices and data

One UI 7 offers advanced security settings that increase the protection of devices. USB connections can be blocked when the device is locked to prevent unauthorized access. The new “Safe Install” system warns of potential risks when installing apps from unauthorized sources.

In the event of device loss or theft, One UI 7 offers additional functions such as biometric authentication for suspicious activities and a security delay that prevents unauthorized changes to the settings.

Availability and beta program

The One UI 7 beta program will be available from December 5, 2024 for Galaxy S24 users in Germany, Korea, India, Poland, the UK and the USA. Interested parties can register via the Samsung Members App. The final version of One UI 7 will be available in spring 2025 with the launch of new Galaxy S series devices and will then be gradually rolled out to other Galaxy devices.

Conclusion

With One UI 7, Samsung is setting new standards in terms of security and data protection. Features such as Knox Matrix, advanced network protection options and intelligent recovery methods make the user interface the first choice for users who value security. The beta version is a promising foretaste of the future of Galaxy devices.
