Samsung presents an innovation in the TV sector: a 115-inch smart TV with micro RGB LED backlighting. This impressive technology promises extremely wide color spaces and a new level of picture quality – particularly exciting for technology enthusiasts, IT professionals, gamers and anyone who follows the latest developments in the display world.
The most important key data at a glance
- Micro RGB LED backlight with individually controllable RGB LEDs under 100 µm
- 100% coverage of the BT.2020 color standard
- 4K resolution at 144 Hz, anti-glare, with AI support and 70 W sound system
Extremely large color display
The tiny micro RGB LED backlights – each smaller than 100 micrometres – enable precise control of individual color points. According to Samsung, this allows the TV to achieve 100% of the BT.2020 color standard, which clearly sets it apart from conventional mini-LED and OLED devices.
By comparison, even current premium OLED models such as the LG G5 achieve around 78%. The display should not only appear stronger and richer, but also reproduce the finest color nuances in a differentiated way.
Precise local dimming
The RGB LEDs enable particularly fine local dimming, which works much more precisely than with previous mini-LED solutions. Bright areas of the picture can be emphasized with pinpoint accuracy, while dark areas of the picture retain deep black levels. This reduces distracting halos around bright objects on a dark background, which ensures a clearer picture both when watching movies and when gaming.
AI-supported image and color adjustment
A “Micro RGB AI engine” works inside, analyzing each scene in real time. With the “Color Booster Pro” function, pale tones can be automatically intensified without appearing unnatural. The device is also equipped with VDE “Precision Color” certification, which confirms its high color fidelity. This combination of hardware precision and software optimization ensures that content is displayed in the best possible way, regardless of the source.
Powerful display and comfort functions
The panel offers 4K resolution at a refresh rate of 144 hertz and has an anti-glare surface to minimize reflections. A new processor ensures a 2.1-fold increase in graphics performance compared to the manufacturer’s current Neo-QLED models.
This means that not only movies but also games benefit from smooth playback and a high response speed. An integrated 70-watt sound system is responsible for the sound, which should provide powerful and clear sound without external speakers.
Price and availability
The 115-inch micro RGB LED TV will be launched in South Korea at a converted price of around 27,800 euros. Although this is well above the price level of conventional televisions, it is considerably cheaper than genuine micro LED sets, some of which are priced above the 150,000 dollar mark. The market launch in South Korea will be followed by the USA, with further international markets planned for the future. There are also plans to expand the portfolio to include smaller screen sizes.
Conclusion
With the new 115-inch Micro RGB LED TV, Samsung is positioning itself between the established OLED and Mini LED technologies and the extremely expensive Micro LED models. With 100% BT.2020 colour space coverage, precise local dimming, AI optimization and powerful hardware, the device is clearly aimed at demanding technology enthusiasts and gamers. Despite the high price, the technology could be a harbinger of a wider market launch in the coming years – especially if smaller and more affordable variants follow.
