Shure has announced a new addition to its wireless over-ear headphone line. The new Shure AONIC 40 aims to deliver studio-quality sound on the go. It offers active noise cancellation (ANC), connects to audio sources via Bluetooth or cable, and offers considerable battery life.
The Shure AONIC 40 features
The new Shure AONIC 40 over-ear headphones take on the legacy of the almost legendary AONIC 50, but are even available at a lower price. In addition to their classy design, the headphones are said to be particularly convincing in terms of sound quality. Via the ShurePlus Play app for Android and iOS, the headphones can also be precisely adjusted to the user’s own listening preferences via an equalizer.
The elegant design relies on foldable ear cups. This makes the AONIC 40 very small to fit well in the included carrying case. The headphones are also particularly robust. The materials used include aluminum from aircraft construction and fiberglass-reinforced nylon. In total, the headphones weigh around 320 grams.
Adjustable ANC
The ANC also presents itself as customizable. You can switch between three different ANC settings at the touch of a button. There is also a transparency mode (here “Environmental Mode”), which amplifies ambient noise such as voices or motors. Two beamforming microphones are also supposed to allow for superior intelligibility during phone calls.
A rich sound is provided by 40 mm neodymium drivers, which cover a frequency band of 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz with an impedance of 31 ohms. Besides the two Bluetooth codecs SBC and AAC, the two Qualcomm variants aptX and aptX HD are also supported. Playback is possible via Bluetooth, USB-C cable or 3.5 mm jack cable.
Strong battery life
The battery life of the Shure AONIC 40 headphones is said to be up to 25 hours with ANC turned on. Charging is done via Fast Charge via USB Type-C. Only 15 minutes of charging time should be enough to provide another five hours of music enjoyment.
Price and Availability
The Shure AONIC 40 over-ear headphones are available now. The manufacturer’s MSRP is 249.00 euros. On Amazon, however, the headphones in the colors white and black are already offered significantly cheaper. Here, 218.95 Euros are currently called up.
