Xiaomi is further expanding its commitment to micromobility and is now officially launching the Electric Scooter 5 Plus in Germany. Until now, the model was only available in this country via detours, but now the manufacturer is selling the scooter directly itself. Xiaomi wants to offer an attractive option for commuters and leisure users who value comfort, safety and modern technology.
Large tires and improved riding safety
One of the most striking features of the Electric Scooter 5 Plus are the 12-inch tubeless pneumatic tires. They are significantly larger than on many competitor models, which often only use 8.5 or 10-inch tires. The Xiaomi Electric Scooter 5 (€ 369.99 *) also only has 10-inch wheels. The larger wheels should not only ensure a more stable ride.
Xiaomi also promises more comfort on uneven surfaces. Xiaomi has also integrated a suspension fork, which increases comfort, especially on cobblestones or uneven paths. A traction control system (TCS), which is otherwise more familiar from cars, ensures even more safety. It helps to optimize power transmission to the road surface and reduces the risk of the wheels spinning on wet or slippery surfaces.
Powerful motor and long-lasting battery
The scooter is powered by a 400-watt motor, which can provide up to 900 watts at peak times. This means that inclines of up to 20% can be mastered – an important advantage in hilly urban areas. The energy is supplied by a battery with a capacity of 477.36 Wh, which, according to the manufacturer, enables a range of up to 60 kilometers. This makes the scooter suitable not only for short trips, but also for longer everyday journeys.
Suitability for everyday use and dimensions
With a maximum payload of 120 kilograms, the Electric Scooter 5 Plus is also suitable for heavier riders. When folded, it measures 1275.8 × 648.8 × 525.5 millimetres and can therefore be stowed away in a comparatively space-saving manner. However, the vehicle weighs in at 26.6 kilograms. This makes it less practical for carrying over stairs or longer distances, which clearly makes it a scooter for road use.
Price and market position
In Germany, Xiaomi quotes the price at around 550 euros. This puts the Electric Scooter 5 Plus in the mid to upper segment. However, in view of the equipment with large tires, TCS, powerful motor and decent range, the model should be an exciting overall package for all those who value safety and comfort.
