A new model from Xiaomi expands the Mijia line with a new vacuum and mopping robot whose base station has a direct water connection – a significant gain in convenience for technology enthusiasts and smart home fans.

Highlights

  • Direct connection to fresh and waste water, no manual refilling necessary
  • Suction power of 23,000 Pa – very high performance
  • Robot height only 8.8 cm – easy to clean under furniture
  • Station washes mops with hot water, dries them and empties dirty water automatically

Now with fixed water connection

The version of the Mijia vacuum mopping robot Mop 5 Pro with the extra-flat base station (only 280 mm instead of 572 mm high) has a permanent water connection. This eliminates the need to manually refill fresh water and empty the dirty water tank. The station cleans the mops with hot water, dries them and takes care of the complete waste water disposal – all automated after each cleaning run.

Xiaomi states that the suction power is an impressive 23,000 Pa – which puts the model at a very high level. Thanks to a lowered laser module, the robot measures only 8.8 cm in height, which even allows it to pass under low furniture. The rotating mops promise intensive cleaning even on edges. In addition, technical measures are integrated to cut up hair in the brush area and thus prevent matting.

Availability & pricing

The Xiaomi Mijia M40 S with a conventional base is currently only available in China. The price of the version with a fixed water connection is around €490 (converted), while the simpler version with a standard base is around €370. There is currently no information on international availability – especially in Europe. That would of course be an unbeatable price. Anyone looking for an appliance with a fixed water connection in this country will end up with significantly more expensive appliances such as a Dreame X50 Master (€ 1,299.00 *). Alternatively, Dreame models such as a Dreame X50 Ultra (Review | € 1,303.96 *) can be upgraded with the practical water connection kit (€ 199.00 *).
