Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash test: design and workmanship
Visually, not much has changed compared to sibling models such as the Dreame H15 Pro (€ 549.00 *) or the Dreame H15 Pro Heat (Review | € 644.00 *). As before, the handpiece is located in the upper section, which fits perfectly in the hand thanks to its ergonomic design.
This is where the controls are located, which you can easily reach with your thumb during cleaning. The handpiece ends in the motor unit of the vacuum cleaner. Not only is the motor located here, but also the dirty water tank. Dreame has also placed a display in the upper area that shows the most important parameters.
The cleaning unit in the lower section is where things get exciting. Here you will not only find the fresh water tank, but also another tank containing the cleaning agent that the vacuum cleaner uses to produce the cleaning foam, among other things. A red rubber scraper can be seen on the front of the Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash.
The smart household helper automatically moves this robotic arm downwards when the vacuum cleaner is retracted. Above it is a nozzle that is reminiscent of the spray technology of the Mova X4 Pro (Review | € 599.00 *). However, unlike the MOVA, the Dreame not only works with hot water, but also sprays out foam. This also explains the name suffix.
The underside of the appliance looks familiar again. Here you can see the cleaning roller, which promises comprehensive cleaning even along skirting boards and furniture edges thanks to its almost rimless design. The two wheels are also located here, which support you with forward and backward movements thanks to the motorization.
Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash test: Easy to use
Ease of use starts with the set-up. And the Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash is quick and easy to set up. This is not least due to the fact that the vacuum cleaner arrives almost completely assembled. All you have to do is attach the handle to the main unit. Then place the base station of the Dreame.
This is used to charge the battery and for self-cleaning. A power socket is required to plug in the necessary mains plug. While the vacuum cleaner’s battery is charging, you should fill the fresh water and detergent tanks. The Dreame is then ready for use.
Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash test: Dreame App
When it comes to robot hoovers, the Dreame Home app is a prime example of a good overview and setting options. Even though an app solution for vacuum cleaners is more of a gimmick than an essential feature, Dreame also offers app support for its H15 Pro FoamWash. Here you can not only view cleaning statistics.
You can also make settings on the appliance. For example, you can adjust the details of the self-cleaning function here. This includes the temperature and duration of the hot air drying process. You can also customize a user-defined mode according to your wishes. You can determine the suction power and water flow rate.
It is also possible to fine-tune the rubber lip at the front in the app. You can also set the dosage of cleaning agent. The app therefore offers many customization options. Personally, I could do without it, as the vacuum cleaner is already excellently configured ex works, but as we all know, having is better than needing.
Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash test: Familiar mopping power
The Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash is an upgrade of the H15 Pro. This suggests, at least in theory, that the vacuum cleaner can at least boast the same virtues as the basic model. And in practice, this is indeed the case. In addition to the practical 180-degree head joint, which allows you to reach areas under flat furniture, this vacuum cleaner offers the usual powerful cleaning performance.
Dreame gives the smart household helper a whopping 23,000 pascals of suction power and combines this with a rotation speed of 480 rpm for the mopping roller. And you can feel it! During the test, there was hardly anything that the vacuum cleaner couldn’t pick up without any problems. Whether it’s liquids, cornflakes with milk or dried jam – you can remove just about anything with this appliance.
The H15 Pro FoamWash even showed no mercy with animal hair. These cannot even get tangled up in the roller, as Dreame has installed a special metal comb that quickly combs hair residues and similar out of the roller. I worked almost exclusively in Smart mode. Here, the appliance adjusts the power to the results of the built-in dirt sensor.
This not only adjusts the suction and mopping performance. The vacuum cleaner also determines the dosage of cleaning agent itself in Smart mode. You can then read the results of the sensor in the form of a color ring on the display. Alternatively, there are other modes available, such as a turbo mode for maximum performance, a suction mode for vacuuming up liquids and a user-defined mode that can be customized in the app.
Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash test: Foam nozzle for heavier soiling
The rest of the features are also impressive. As already mentioned, the H15 Pro FoamWash has a special rubber lip that is automatically lowered by a robotic arm during cleaning. This is controlled by AI, how could it be otherwise? The AI registers when you pull the vacuum cleaner back. The scraper then moves downwards, which is particularly advantageous when vacuuming up liquids.
After all, the roller can also suck up residues that would otherwise remain untouched in front of the appliance. The scraper also enables powerful edge cleaning. When it moves down, a vacuum is also created to the side, giving you extensive cleaning with the Dreame. There is also a pleasantly flexible head joint, the option to lay the vacuum cleaner flat and a really good battery life of up to 40 minutes in Smart mode.
The eponymous highlight of the latest offshoot of the H15 Pro, however, is the foam nozzle at the front. This brand new technology allows the user to spray foam at the touch of a button. To “mix” the foam, the vacuum cleaner uses the cleaning agent that is already used during cleaning. In practice, this feature is particularly useful for pet owners. For example, if there are food residues or even legacies such as urine from your pets in the home, the foam flexes its muscles.
Simply roll in front of the stain and then spray it by holding the corresponding lever on the handle. The composition of the foam makes it possible to soften the enzymes in the stains. Stains are then not only easier to remove. The chemical composition also ensures that no odor develops. But the whole process also pays off for simple dried-on stains. They are much easier to remove with the right pre-treatment.
Dreame H15 Pro FoamWash test: self-cleaning
You also get the usual quality of the Dreame H15 Pro for self-cleaning. To start the process, first place the vacuum cleaner in the charging station. After pressing the corresponding button, the self-cleaning process begins. However, this requires sufficient fresh water and battery power. You may also have to empty the dirty water tank again first.
If these requirements are met, the self-cleaning function will start. You can adjust the intensity of this in the app. I left it in Smart mode. This adjusts the temperature of the hot water and the amount of detergent according to how dirty the vacuum cleaner is found to be. Up to 100°C is possible here.
This means that bacteria and unpleasant odors don’t stand a chance. This is followed by hot air drying, in which a hair dryer works with up to 90°C hot air. You have the choice between quick drying, where everything is done after 5 minutes, or a slightly less hot drying process, where the roller is bone dry after 30 minutes. While the former saves you time, the latter saves you energy. In both cases, the roller was wonderfully clean and fluffy after cleaning and drying.
Conclusion
With the H15 Pro FoamWash, Dreame is launching an exciting upgrade to its popular mop vacuum cleaner. In addition to the usual high cleaning performance, strong suction power of 23,000 Pascal and clever features such as the flexible head joint or automatic self-cleaning, the new foam nozzle is particularly impressive. This is particularly useful for stubborn or organic dirt and is a real added value for households with children or pets. The H15 Pro FoamWash also scores highly in terms of ease of use.
The simple setup, intuitive controls directly on the appliance and optional app support make it a pleasure to use. Small extras such as the automatically controlled rubber lip or the smart mode, which doses the power and detergent, round off the overall package. The only downside is the rather high price, which elevates the appliance into the premium class. But if you are prepared to invest, you will get a powerful, versatile and innovative vacuum cleaner that reliably removes even the most challenging dirt.
