High costs for fuel, garage, parking and insurance. The car has now become a real luxury item. So it’s no wonder that more and more people are making the switch. Those who don’t want to miss out on comfort are turning to e-bikes. But not all e-bikes are the same. After all, for many passionate riders, it’s not just comfortable cycling from A to B that counts. Practicality should not be neglected either. After all, there is no harm in replacing the small trunk of the car with sufficient charging options on the e-bike. In the Fiido Titan test, we took a look at an egg-laying wool-milk sow among e-bikes. Like a cargo bike, you can stow a lot of things here without having to sacrifice the maneuverability of an e-mountain bike. Sounds great in theory. But what does it look like in practice?

Scope of delivery and assembly

As is typical for Fiido, the scope of delivery of the Titan is also impressive. The e-bike not only scores with extensive equipment such as a lighting system, pre-mounted kickstand, mudguards and pannier rack. On top of that, you also get a comprehensive arsenal of tools for use during assembly. The assembly itself was quick and uncomplicated.

This is mainly due to Fiido’s self-explanatory assembly instructions. However, we can only warmly recommend that you get help with unpacking and assembling. This is by no means due to the complexity of the assembly, but rather to the heavy weight of the Titan. It is much easier to get it out of the packaging with two people.

Fiido Titan Test: First impression

If you’re looking for an inconspicuous e-bike, you’ve definitely come to the wrong place with the Fiido Titan. The motorized two-wheeler is as martial as the name sounds. So don’t be surprised if a few interested glances are thrown your way on the cycle path.

The Fiido is an eye-catcher for several reasons. One of the most eye-catching is certainly the thick tires, which measure a whopping 4 inches. They really stand out, especially in combination with the thick suspension on the front fork. This gives the e-bike real robustness. The same applies to the solid frame.

This relies on a permanently installed luggage rack at the rear, which comes with a stylish wooden panel. According to Fiido, you get a load capacity of up to 80 kg. To maximize the transport options, you can also install a bike basket at the front. With these two storage options, the Titan quickly becomes a genuine cargo bike.

Here, Fiido apparently combines the qualities of an e-MTB with those of an e-cargo bike such as the in-house Fiido T2 (Review | € 1,499.00 *). Fiido has opted for a low step-through frame. This not only makes it easy to get on the bike. The manufacturer also prevents the risk of the bike tipping over when carrying heavy loads at the rear and front.

The build quality of the motorized two-wheeler is outstanding. In view of the thick welded seams, there is no need to worry about the frame losing any of its stability. This is underlined by the bike’s load capacity. According to Fiido, the rider can weigh a maximum of 120 kg.

Fiido Titan Test: Extensive equipment

The other elements are also impressive. For example, the e-bike comes with helpful mudguards at the front and rear, which prove to be extremely helpful and effective in rainy conditions. A front and rear light are fitted ex works so that you can see clearly in the dark. Both receive the necessary energy from the battery and can be conveniently switched on and off at the touch of a button.

While the rear light is completely convincing, there is a small flaw with the front light. Although it may impress with its strong luminosity and large light cone, it has its pitfalls on winding roads. As Fiido has not installed the light on the moving handlebars or the front fork, it does not move with the steering movements. Speaking of handlebars. Fiido gives the handlebars an extremely pleasant upward curve.

This ensures that you enjoy an extremely comfortable grip while riding. However, the handlebars are not only intended to ensure riding comfort. It also serves as the control center. Here you have access to the most important controls. On the one hand, there is the gearshift with 9 gears and the throttle on the right handlebar.

On the left handlebar, you can reach the bell and a keypad with the most important buttons for lights, horn and changing the support level. To ensure that you can keep an eye on everything while riding, the Fiido comes with a display that is really impressive. The screen, which is always easy to read even in bright light, provides you with information on the most important parameters.

This includes not only the remaining battery capacity, but also the current support level and, of course, speed. The only thing I find a pity is that the battery capacity is not shown in whole numbers, but only in bars.

Statistics fans will enjoy the buttons below the display. Here you can choose between different display modes at the touch of a button.

The Fiido app enables settings and control via smartphone.

Parameters such as the duration of the current tour, the top speed or the kilometers covered can then be displayed. This change option is particularly practical for longer journeys.

Fiido Titan Test: Riding experience

The Achilles heel of many e-bikes is their high weight. Although there are exceptions to this, such as the Urtopia Carbon One (Review | € 2,699.00 *), most motorized two-wheelers can weigh 20 kg or more. At just under 38 kg, the Fiido Titan is of course anything but a lightweight. But the good news is that when you’re out and about on the massive e-bike, you hardly notice the weight.

fiido titanium test

Of course, it is by no means as agile as a single speed, but I was still pleasantly surprised by its maneuverability. Despite the high weight and the extra-wide tires, you can easily take the necessary agility to make your way through winding urban areas. The big advantage here is the high level of riding comfort. As you sit in the saddle of the Titan in a more upright position, your arms can rest comfortably on the handlebars.

The soft saddle in combination with the hydraulic suspension at the front and the thick tires ensure a pleasantly soft ride. The suspension travel of 60 mm is quite impressive. Like the Fiido C11 Pro (Review | € 1,099.00 *), the Titan also comes with a torque sensor. This provides immediate feedback from the motor when you pedal or stop, which makes the ride feel very natural.

With a full 250 watts, the rear-mounted mid-motor is a real powerhouse. Thanks to 55 Nm of torque, the brushless motor also provides plenty of thrust when setting off. As the e-bike weighs just under 200 kg when fully loaded (120 kg rider + 80 kg rear luggage + 38 kg tare weight), you shouldn’t skimp on power here either. But safety is not neglected either. Fiido relies on hydraulic disc brakes with four pistons each.

Fiido Titan Test: Endurance

In addition to performance, battery life also plays a major role. This is particularly the case with the Fiido Titan. After all, many users can certainly imagine this e-bike as a two-wheeler for longer tours. There is definitely enough space here to accommodate luggage. The battery comes with a capacity of 696 Wh. What range does this provide? Fiido provides information on various scenarios. If a rider weighing 85 kg rides in ECO mode at a temperature of 27°C on a flat road, around 116 km should be possible.

This is then reduced to 66.5 km on the highest “Turbo” setting. This may not be record-breaking, but it should be more than enough for most users. As Fiido has opted for an expandable battery here, the range is not a major issue anyway. After all, passionate long-distance riders can simply buy a replacement battery. And that’s what you should do if there is a risk that the range is too short for your personal use. After all, you don’t want to ride this colossus without motor support.

Conclusion

The Fiido Titan is not an e-bike for the masses – and that’s a good thing. Because if you opt for this powerhouse, you get a real all-rounder on two wheels. With its massive look, impressive payload capacity and powerful motor, it is perfect for anyone who wants to be on the move not only comfortably, but also practically and powerfully. Whether as a cargo bike replacement in everyday urban life or as a faithful companion on extended tours – the Titan shows its strengths across the board. Small weaknesses such as the front light that doesn’t move with the handlebars or the less than precise battery status display are easy to get over. If you are looking for a robust, comfortable and powerful e-bike with real utility value, the Fiido Titan should be just the right partner. A bike that delivers what its name promises.
