With the Goove Curtain Lights 2, you can even hang a curtain of LEDs directly in front of your window. The second version has been on the market for some time now. We test the construction with a total of 520 controllable LEDs for you.

Scope of delivery
Our test product is a cooperation with Dreamsworks Der Wilde Roboter. This is why we find a small card after opening the box. We can use the code on the card to unlock additional effects.
In addition to the lighting, a power supply unit (36W) and the control unit are also included. We have also included 12 hooks and 22 straps for fastening. The latter helps to keep the individual elements at the same distance.
Everything arrives very well packaged and the chains are not tangled up in each other. Even when taking them apart, nothing hangs together.
Design and workmanship
The normal package contains the Govee Curtain Lights 2, which measure 1.5 meters x 2 meters. There are a total of 20 strands across the width, on which the 520 LEDs are distributed. The construction is stable and the strands hold their position well without wobbling much. A certain rigidity is therefore provided.
It is important to ensure that the Curtain Lights 2 are aligned straight. This is the only way to ensure that images or animations can be displayed correctly. If only colors are to be displayed, the alignment is not the most important factor.
The self-adhesive hooks and plastic straps make it easy to install on your own. The low weight and good workmanship are also very helpful. The plastic straps also make it easy to attach the curtain lights to objects such as curtain poles.
If 1.5 meters in width is not enough for you, there are also packages that contain three Govee Curtain Lights 2. These can also be connected together via the app. It is not possible to shorten the strands!
The light curtain can also be used outdoors. This is ensured by the IP65 certification. However, the mains plug should be used indoors as it is only IP44 certified.
Functions and integration
The Govee app is required to set up and use the full range of functions. An account with the manufacturer is also required, which is a small minus point. When Bluetooth is switched on, the Curtain Lights 2 are found directly and can be used.
The app gives us access to all functions. In addition to setting the color, we can set the brightness or the pattern. Animations are possible and since everyone now relies on AI, we can’t avoid it in the Govee app either. There are no limits to what we can do with AI (voice or text input). Unfortunately, it is not possible to customize the animations created in this way.
More than 200 effects are already preset. There is also a kind of community store from which you can choose. You can also use the app to create your own animations. The following applies to the animations: the further away you are, the easier it is to recognize the motif or animation.
The Govee Curtain Lights 2 can be integrated into (almost) any smart home system. The integration of Amazon Alexa and Google Home is specified. However, integration via Matter offers the greatest freedom – at least with a few compromises.
It is also possible to integrate the Curtain Lights 2 into Home Asisstant via Matter. Unfortunately, some compromises have to be made and not all functions can be used. Switching animations, an important function, is not supported by Matter. This will hopefully be added in an update.
Conclusion on the Govee Curtain Lights 2
Govee was not initially known for its high-quality products. In the meantime, its reputation has changed, the products are getting better and better and the quality is constantly improving. The Curtain Lights 2 are just one example of this. In addition to good workmanship, the Govee app also offers a wide range of functions.
However, there are a few things to criticize. One of them is that you have to have an account if you want to use the manufacturer’s app. Without it, it is not possible to create your own animations or use the AI to create motifs. The Matter integration also needs to be improved, as no animations can be selected from the app, only functions for switching on and off, as well as controlling the color and brightness.
If the width of 1.5 meters is not enough for you, there are two packages with either two or three curtains. These can also be connected in series. Installation is very easy thanks to the material supplied.
