Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL Review: Elegant little lamp
When it comes to smart lighting, Govee stands for innovation. Following last year’s release of the Floor Lamp Pro (our test), a floor lamp with a Bluetooth speaker, there is now a counterpart for all those who prefer to have light and sound on the table (or on the shelf).
The new Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL, first unveiled at CES 2025 at the beginning of the year, is finally hitting the shelves. It is essentially a wider but flatter version of the LED table lamp released last year, with the special feature that a Bluetooth speaker is built into it.
With dimensions of 19 cm x 19 cm x 34 cm, the table lamp is pleasantly compact and weighs around 2.4 kg. The weight is undoubtedly a sign of high quality and the workmanship is typically excellent.

Rubberized feet on the underside ensure that nothing can slip on tables and the like. There are also a total of six outlets at the bottom through which the sound can spread throughout the room.
The pill-shaped table lamp consists of two main lighting zones: The upper area has a total of 210 pixels behind a matt frosted glass cover, which can be used to create a wide variety of RGB lighting effects.
The lower third is transparent and also offers a lighting level that can be individually configured in conjunction with the Govee Home app. Smart: Thanks to the glossy surface on the inside, the lighting effects shine through from the top to the bottom of the base.
Installation and operation
The Govee table lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL requires no assembly. The lamp arrives at your home fully assembled. In addition to the lamp itself, the scope of delivery only includes a USB-C to USB-C power cable and the usual paperwork such as instructions and warranty card.
The table lamp’s controls are all located on the top. There is the obligatory power button, a mode selection button, two elements for increasing or decreasing the volume and a button for starting or pausing playback. It’s as simple as that.
There is also a built-in microphone at the top, which is designed to pick up music that is playing and adjust the lighting according to the beat. It cannot be used for voice commands or similar.
App connection: Govee Home
The rest of the operation is carried out via the Govee Home app, which can be used to connect the Govee table lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL quickly and reliably via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Integration into the manufacturer’s ecosystem is then also possible, for example to synchronize the table lamp with other lights.
Within the app, you can set different lighting effects, adjust their speed or create your own effects using AI or graffiti. If you already own a Govee light, you will quickly find your way around the app.
Over 100 lighting effects are already available to choose from by default. These range from ocean and aurora borealis to campfire effects and much more. If you prefer, you can also simply let the table lamp shine in shades of white.
Govee table lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL in a practical test
Synchronized lighting to music, varied light and sound effects or simple white light (adjustable between 2700K and 6500K): The Govee table lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL is equipped for all eventualities.
Thanks to the closely spaced 210 LEDs, the table lamp displays animations and motion effects with incredible fluidity and detail. Rotations, swirls, flickering effects or the typical pulsation of a lava lamp? No problem at all.
Despite the stated brightness of 600 lumens, the Table Lamp 2 Pro does not get too bright. It is used more for ambient lighting than as a reading lamp or similar. The maximum brightness is not sufficient for this.
The speakers are surprisingly powerful. Govee gives the table lamp a 2.5-inch speaker with a volume of 500 cm³, which is tuned by JBl and achieves a powerful sound thanks to the DSP chip and equalizer algorithm.
The sound is emitted 360° upwards, distributing the sound evenly throughout the room with a low latency of just 32 milliseconds. It becomes clear relatively quickly that the speaker is designed for fun: rich, powerful bass, but with significantly reduced mids and highs.
Of course, this is great fun with different music genres, but the Govee table lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL cannot replace a good Bluetooth speaker. Nevertheless, it is a great addition to have sound and lighting in one device.
Battery life of the Govee table lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL
Govee has equipped the lamp with a 5,200 mAh battery, which provides a decent runtime. The battery lasts for 4.5 hours when using the light alone and 4 hours when playing music without the light. However, if you use the light and sound at the same time, you will need to connect the power cable within around 80 minutes.
Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL Review: Conclusion
Like the Floor Lamp Pro, the new Govee Table Lamp 2 Pro x Sound from JBL impresses with its sophisticated design, convincing lighting effects and a practical Bluetooth speaker.
The more than 100 effects in particular look great thanks to the tightly designed interface and display animations quickly and smoothly. And even if the built-in speaker cannot replace a real Bluetooth speaker, it delivers a full and lively sound that is more than just a nice extra.
Operation is simple and set-up is super quick. Thanks to Matter, the lamp can also be integrated into various ecosystems and controlled with external devices such as Alexa, Google Home and Apple Home. What more could you want? Perhaps a higher maximum brightness, because the Table Lamp 2 Pro is more ambient lighting than a genuine table lamp that can be used individually for reading or similar.
VORTEILE
- Impressive lighting effects
- Attractive design
- Intuitive operation
