House dust mites live in every mattress – completely normal, but still a problem for allergy sufferers. Normal vacuum cleaners only scratch the surface, leaving most of the tiny parasites behind. Specialized dust mite vacuums therefore work with several technologies simultaneously: UV light kills, hot air disinfects, ultrasound removes stubborn particles. Jimmy has now added a premium model to its own dust mite vacuum cleaner range – the BX7 Pro Max with graphene heating technology and ion generator. The appliance can reach 65°C instead of the usual 60°C, but also costs 50 euros more than the standard model. We put the Jimmy BX7 Pro Max to the test to find out whether the extra cost is worth it.

Unpacking and assembly
Jimmy supplies the essentials: Main appliance, replacement filter, cleaning tool for the brush roller and instructions in several languages. The box is neatly packed and everything is securely in place.
There’s nothing to assemble. Take out the appliance, connect the cable, done. It takes less than two minutes to set up – the appliance is ready to use immediately.
The modular design is practical: the transparent dust container can be removed at the touch of a button, as can the cyclone insert and the filters. Everything can be cleaned under running water. The mechanisms work precisely – the parts fit tightly when they should, but can be released without effort when they are needed. This makes subsequent maintenance uncomplicated.
Design and workmanship Jimmy BX7 Pro Max in the test: Functional without frills
Jimmy sticks to the tried and tested design of the series, but also offers a more striking turquoise version in addition to the tested gray version. The grey plastic housing with black accents and copper-colored details looks restrained and neutral – a functional working device without great design ambitions.
The workmanship is within the usual Jimmy framework: neatly made, but without any premium pretensions. The plastic housing fits together neatly, but the gaps are not uniform everywhere. If you take a closer look, you will discover small inaccuracies here and there – they don’t matter from a functional point of view, but for a 190-euro device, we would have liked a little more precision.
At 2.7 kg, the appliance feels good in the hand. It’s heavy enough to develop a good contact pressure, but not so heavy that longer cleaning sessions become a torture. The 5-meter cable gives you enough freedom of movement, even with large double beds you don’t have to keep moving it around. The controls on the handle are logically arranged and easy to reach with one hand. The small display on the nozzle shows the active mode and the dust sensor indicator.
The 245 mm wide suction opening makes quick work possible. The transparent dust container not only shows the fill level, but also impressively shows the amount of dirt that comes out of even seemingly clean mattresses.
Graphene heating technology: the core upgrade
The main difference to the regular BX7 Pro is the graphene heating technology. Instead of the usual 60°C, it reaches 65°C and heats up to operating temperature within 5 seconds. Graphene conducts heat significantly better than conventional heating elements – you notice this immediately.
The flat heating plates on the underside of the nozzle distribute the heat noticeably evenly across the entire suction width. While standard models often only heat up at certain points, the graphene heater works across the entire surface. You feel a constant, intense heat across the entire width of the nozzle – not just individual hot spots.
The extra 5°C can certainly make a difference in combating mites, as parasites and bacteria die off more quickly at higher temperatures. The more intense heat penetrates deeper, especially in thicker mattresses or in more humid environments. Whether this temperature difference has a practically relevant effect is of course difficult to judge without a laboratory test – but the stronger heat development is definitely noticeable.

Ion generator: additional air purification
Jimmy has integrated an ion generator as a second premium feature. This continuously releases negative ions during operation, which are intended to bind dust particles in the room air. Although the effect is not directly measurable or immediately noticeable, the concept is certainly plausible.
The feature works automatically without you having to worry about it. There is no separate switch – the ion generator simply runs as soon as the appliance is switched on. This makes operation uncomplicated and ensures that the feature is actually used.
As a supplement to mechanical cleaning, the ion generator fits well into the premium concept. Even if the direct benefit is difficult to prove, it certainly does no harm and rounds off the overall package in a sensible way. However, the main argument for the extra charge should be the noticeably better graphene heating.
Three working modes for different applications
The Jimmy BX7 Pro Max offers three cleaning modes that combine different functions:
- Vacuum + UV + Tapping is the standard full power mode with brush roller, UV-C light, suction and hot air – perfect for thorough deep cleaning
- Vacuum + Tapping combines suction with brush vibrations without UV exposure and works gently on sensitive surfaces
- Vacuum+ UV uses suction with UV-C sterilization without tapping and is particularly gentle on delicate materials
The mode is selected using the mode button on the handle. The display clearly shows which functions are currently active. The full program mode with all technologies is recommended for the most thorough cleaning. The negative ion function runs automatically in all modes and does not need to be activated separately.
Intelligent dust detection: precise operation
The automatic dust detection works via an integrated sensor that continuously measures the level of soiling. A two-stage LED indicator on the display provides information on the cleaning progress: red indicates soiling, blue indicates cleaned areas.
The system reacts precisely to differences in soiling that are not visible to the naked eye. Even visually clean areas can display different sensor values. The sensor also acts as a speed control – if you are working too fast, the persistent red LED indicates that you need to rework.
Only when the display changes from red to blue is an area really thoroughly cleaned. This visual feedback makes work more efficient and prevents areas from being overlooked.
Jimmy BX7 Pro Max cleaning performance in the test: clear differences
The cleaning performance clearly shows the difference to normal vacuum cleaners. In the test, a mattress was first thoroughly treated with a high-quality cordless vacuum cleaner. The Jimmy was then used.
Despite the pre-cleaning, a considerable amount of fine, gray-white dust collected in the container. The combination of strong suction power, the rotating brush roller, vibrations and graphene heating obviously reaches deeper particles that normal vacuuming does not pick up.

The brush roller combines soft bristles and silicone blades: The bristles are gentle on delicate surfaces, while the lamellas loosen stubborn dirt from deep down using rapid tapping movements. The difference becomes clear when the treated mattress is tapped by hand in sunlight – noticeably less dust is stirred up than in untreated areas.

A double bed mattress can be completely treated in around 10-15 minutes. After the treatment, a change in the smell and feel of the mattress is noticeable. The mattress smells fresher and feels cleaner.
The actual effectiveness against mites cannot be objectively assessed without laboratory analysis. However, the certification by the Allergy UK Foundation and the visible amount of removed material speak for the advertised effect.
Operation: self-explanatory and practical
It is operated using two buttons on the handle: on/off and mode. The small display on the nozzle provides clear information about the active status and also shows the dust sensor indicator.

.
With 700 watts of motor power, the device is clearly audible, but at around 70 decibels it reaches a tolerable volume. The noise level is roughly equivalent to a normal vacuum cleaner and is easy to tolerate for occasional use.
The weight of 2.7 kg is comfortable to hold – heavy enough for stable contact with the mattress, but not so heavy that it interferes with operation. The LED indicator on the nozzle shows when an area has been sufficiently cleaned: when it changes from red to blue, you can move on to the next area.
Maintenance and care Jimmy BX7 Pro Max test: Well thought-out solution
Maintenance is a practical solution. The dust container can be removed at the touch of a button and emptied separately, which is practical as you don’t have to lug the entire appliance to the garbage can. However, you should be careful when emptying it: The fine dust swirls up easily, which is why emptying is best done outside by the garbage can.

All important components can be disassembled for cleaning:
- The dust container and cyclone system can be rinsed under running water
- The HEPA filter should be replaced every 30-50 operating hours
- The brush roller can be easily removed – the two yellow levers on the left and right on the underside of the brush head unlock the roller without tools
Jimmy includes a replacement filter, others cost around 15 euros. The cleaning tool supplied helps to remove hair and fibers from the brush roller. After each use, you should at least empty the dust container to keep the suction power constant.
Price-performance Jimmy BX7 Pro Max in the test: Premium features for discerning users
At 190 euros, the premium model is in the upper mid-range of the dust mite vacuum cleaner category. Simple models are available from as little as 80 euros, while premium appliances can cost up to 300 euros.
The surcharge of 50 euros compared to the BX7 Pro brings measurable improvements: higher temperature, more even heat distribution and additional air purification. These are particularly worthwhile for:
- Allergy sufferers with increased requirements for mite control
- Households with pets (pet hair and bacteria control)
- Users of very thick or moisture-prone mattresses
- People who value the latest technology
The appliance is less suitable for occasional users without special requirements or price-conscious buyers who already own a fully functional dust mite vacuum cleaner.
The question of whether a specialized dust mite vacuum cleaner is necessary can be answered by a direct comparison. Even after thorough pre-cleaning with a premium cordless vacuum cleaner, the Jimmy removes considerably more material from the same mattress.
Conclusion: Sophisticated premium solution with noticeable improvements
The Jimmy BX7 Pro Max delivers what it promises. The cleaning results clearly outperform normal vacuum cleaners, operation remains uncomplicated and the workmanship is solid – even if there is still room for improvement in the gap dimensions.
The graphene heating technology makes the decisive difference: the 65°C is distributed noticeably more evenly over the entire nozzle than with standard models. The ion generator fits seamlessly into the concept – even if its effect remains more theoretical. Together, both features justify the extra 50 euros, but only for users who actually need these extras.
The BX7 Pro Max is a sophisticated premium solution for allergy sufferers who have the highest demands or simply want the latest technology. Everyone else will do just as well with the cheaper BX7 Pro – the basic performance is practically identical, only the extras are missing.
