Dreame subsidiary MOVA is currently turning the world of smart household helpers on its head. In the tests of the MOVA X4 Pro (Review | € 599.00 *) and the MOVA 600 (Review | € 899.00 *), we were already able to see the quality of the young manufacturer for ourselves. In addition to vacuum sweepers and robotic mowers, MOVA also offers robotic vacuum cleaners. In the MOVA V50 Ultra Complete test, we were able to take a closer look at the flagship model. Can it keep up with the current high-end models from Roborock and Dreame?

MOVA V50 Ultra Complete Test: Dreame sends its regards
The circular shape of the MOVA V50 Ultra is not only reminiscent of classic robot hoovers. What’s more, this household helper could also come directly from Dreame itself. The visual similarity to models such as the Dreame X50 Ultra (Review | € 1,303.96 *) is not really surprising. After all, MOVA is known to be a subsidiary of the popular robot vacuum manufacturer. MOVA relies on high-quality processed plastic here.
It’s just a shame that a high-gloss finish is used. This could lead to ugly micro-scratches in the long term. In addition to the company logo, there is also a retractable LiDAR tower on the top. This also houses two buttons that can be used to start and pause the robot and send it to the station. A pretty LED ring surrounds the circular tower, which creates attractive lighting effects.
The technology for obstacle detection is located at the front of the robot. The MOVA V50 Ultra Complete relies on a camera system including LED light and structured light. There are additional sensors on the side of the smart household helper that ensure the correct distance from the wall and furniture. At the back are the charging contacts and the charging nozzle, which is used to fill the robot’s internal water tank.
If we turn the robot upside down, we first see two large wheels with an impressive profile. On closer inspection, we can already see MOVA’s StepMaster system. This enables the V50 Ultra to overcome obstacles with a height of up to 6 cm. There are also two mop pads, one of which can be extended. The smart household helper can also extend its side brush.
Speaking of the brush. Strictly speaking, the main brush consists of two brushes. Thanks to the double brush design, which MOVA has christened TroboWave, there should be no tangles. The manufacturer uses a combination of a TPU rubber brush and a normal brush. This should ensure perfect suction performance on hard and carpeted floors. Both the side brush and the main brush can be lifted.
MOVA V50 Ultra Complete Test: All-in-one station
The all-in-one station also speaks the design language of the robot hoover. Here too, the manufacturer has opted for glossy white. Subtle accents in champagne add a touch of extravagance. Of course, the station is not just for charging the robot battery. This station can do so much more.
Firstly, the debris collected by the robot vacuum cleaner is vacuumed up after each cleaning session and collected in a dust bag. You can access this via the flap on the front. The detergent container is also located under the same flap. This has two compartments.
Behind this is the DuoSolution system from MOVA. The Robo can use different cleaning solutions for different areas. The station fills the Robo’s integrated water tank with fresh water and detergent.
The cleaning agent is also used to clean the mop pads, which are thoroughly rinsed on the JetSpray Dryboard with a total of 20 water jets. Thanks to the use of 80°C hot water, neither dirt nor bacteria have even the slightest chance.
The cleaning process is followed by hot air drying. Hot air at 50°C is used to dry not only the mop pads, but also the dust container, suction chute and dust bag. This effectively prevents the formation of unpleasant odors. The two water tanks for fresh water and dirty water are located under a flap on the top of the all-in-one station.
Alternatively, the V50 Ultra can also be operated with a fixed water connection. The DryBoard can also serve as a parking space for the mop pads if required. If you use the vacuum cleaner in pure suction mode without the mopping function, the V50 Ultra simply puts the two circular mopping pads down.
MOVA V50 Ultra Complete Test: Navigation and obstacle detection
The MOVA V50 Ultra relies on classic LiDAR technology for navigation. The retractable design of the LiDAR tower is anything but classic, but rather flagship-worthy. So far, we have only seen this in high-class models such as the Roborock Saros 10 (Review | € 1,399.00 *) or Dreame L50 Pro Ultra (Review | € 1,129.00 *).
With the laser tower retracted, the V50 Ultra measures just 89 mm. This means it even fits under very flat furniture. With the help of the LiDAR tower, the V50 Ultra scans your home reliably and accurately, even in complete darkness. The smart household helper then creates the corresponding map as part of its maiden voyage. After mapping, the robot has internalized your rooms and travels through them according to a strict plan.
The edges of the room are cleaned first and then the interior is cleaned in U-shaped parallel paths. The Robo relies on its own AI SmartSight for obstacle detection. As the name suggests, artificial intelligence is used here. The moving images recorded by the camera system are evaluated in real time in order to detect obstacles and avoid them.
The MOVA V50 Ultra can distinguish between over 200 different objects, which puts it in the same league as the Narwal Freo Z10 Ultra (Review | € 1,299.00 *). In practice, the robot vacuum delivers similarly good results as a Dreame X50 Ultra. In the test, there were only minor glitches in exceptional cases, which are not really worth mentioning. For example, it can happen that the robot slightly touches an object. All in all, however, the obstacle detection works excellently – even in poor lighting conditions thanks to LEDs.
MOVA V50 Ultra Complete Test: MOVA App
Thanks to the MOVA app, the V50 Ultra is not only extremely easy to control and monitor via smartphone. You can also use the software to make a wide range of settings. This not only includes setting a cleaning schedule that assigns fixed working times to the robot. You can also make adjustments to the map here. For example, you can create no-go zones or integrate invisible walls.
In the map, you can also determine which cleaning solution should be used in which areas of your home. For example, you can use the pet solution around the litter box to prevent unpleasant odors. You can also adjust the suction and mopping power as well as details of how the cleaning station works to suit your mood. You can also specify whether the Robo should only vacuum, mop or both.
If you want it to vacuum as well as mop, you can specify the order in which it should perform both tasks. It is almost difficult to find a parameter on the MOVA V50 Ultra that cannot be set. But despite the many setting options, you always have an overview. You can just feel that Dreame is behind the new brand. After all, the MOVA app looks like a clone of the Dreame app – and that’s a compliment!
MOVA V50 Ultra Complete test: pet lover
Do you have pets? Then the MOVA V50 Ultra should be all the more exciting for you. After all, the manufacturer explicitly advertises the pet-friendly functions of its flagship robot hoover. For example, you can set the robot to recognize when and where your pet is currently located. If it has found it, it will take a snapshot. Another really cool feature is that it can search specifically for your pet.

This is particularly practical if you are at work and want to make sure that everything is OK with your four-legged friend. This may sound like an extra dose of tech gimmickry to some, but it also has a deeper meaning. After all, the robot can internalize over time where your pet spends the most time. If you wish, you can then have these areas cleaned particularly intensively for the sake of hygiene.
MOVA V50 Ultra Complete test: record suction power
Once the robot was quick and easy to set up, I put it through its paces. Once it had created a map of my almost 45 m² first floor, I sent it on a cleaning tour. And it doesn’t have an easy time of it in my household. A family of four with two cats and a dog unintentionally leaves behind many a speck of dust on the tiles, vinyl and carpet.
One thing should be said up front: with its maximum suction power of an impressive 24,000 pascals, the MOVA V50 Ultra is a real performance beast that puts every robot vacuum currently on the market in the shade. But even more important than the mere boasting of technical data is the performance on the floor. And here the MOVA delivers on pretty much any surface. From tiled floors to long-pile carpets, I was really impressed.
And cleaning corners is anything but difficult thanks to the extendable side brush. When vacuuming carpets, the fact that the Robo can place the mops in the station pays off. Although it can also lift the mops just under a centimeter, this is probably not enough for most long-pile carpets. Thanks to automatic carpet detection, the Robo flexes its muscles on its own when it moves over carpets.
Here, the V50 Ultra also picks up deep-seated dirt from the carpet. The two-part main brush also cuts a really good figure. In the end, neither hair from my two long-haired cats nor fur from my hairy dog got tangled up in the test. In the event of a collision between Robo and animal, the V50 Ultra carefully avoids the four-legged friend and then simply returns to the affected area at a later time.
MOVA V50 Ultra Complete Test: Mopping performance
The technology with two rotating mops is not new. The MOVA V50 Ultra rotates its mop surfaces at 260 revolutions per minute during cleaning. On top of this, hot water at a temperature of up to 50°C can be used for cleaning if required. In combination with the cleaning solution, this is a real weapon against stubborn stains and bacteria.
One exciting feature is the ability to adjust the orientation of the mops. After all, it’s not just a mop that can be extended to ensure rimless cleaning along furniture edges or skirting boards. The mops can also dynamically adjust their alignment as required. The angle can be adjusted by 5°, making it easier to clean uneven floors.
Conclusion
With the V50 Ultra, MOVA is launching a flagship robot vacuum on the market that doesn’t have to hide behind established giants such as Roborock or Dreame. Quite the opposite: in many respects, the smart household helper even sets new standards. The enormous suction power of 24,000 pascals, combined with clever navigation, powerful mopping performance and an all-in-one station that can do more than many washing machines, make the V50 Ultra a real high-end model.
We were particularly impressed by the well thought-out overall concept: from the double brush design and pet detection to the hygienic cleaning system with hot water and hot air. Minor weaknesses such as the somewhat sensitive high-gloss surface hardly matter. Anyone looking for a smart, highly customizable and powerful cleaning system that doesn’t lose its bearings even in complex households with children and animals will be completely happy with the MOVA V50 Ultra. Dreame clearly sends its regards here – and in the best possible way.
