When it comes to vacuum cleaners, Tineco can justifiably be counted among the most important manufacturers. Among other things, the company is known for giving existing models from its product portfolio useful upgrades. The best example of this is the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus. This is based on the proven features of the original model, but also offers a promising steam function with 140°C hot steam. In the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus test, we reveal whether the update is a useful addition or whether you can simply stick with the basic model.

Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus Test: Design and workmanship

Visually, nothing has really changed compared to the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch (Review | € 499.00 *). Strictly speaking, you can hardly tell the devices apart at first glance. But there are differences here and there. The ergonomically shaped handle is located at the top.

This is also found on the Steam model with the on/off button and the mode change button. Both controls can be easily reached with the thumb during use. There is also a third and fourth button on the handle, which is located at the top and back respectively.

The button on the back controls the voice output, the button on the top starts the self-cleaning function as soon as the device is in the charging station. The handle leads into the main unit. There is an easy-to-read display on the top, which gives you information about the most important parameters.

In addition to the device’s battery status, you can also see the current cleaning mode and the result of the iLoop dirt sensor. The higher the proportion of blue, the cleaner the floor is. If there is also a red component, the sensor has detected dirt. The main unit also contains the 720 ml dirty water tank, which separates solids from liquids using a practical filter.

The cleaning unit in the lower part of the appliance is where things get exciting again. This is where the 880 ml fresh water tank is located. The placement of the fresh water tank not only enables the flat design, which is really impressive at 13 cm when lying down.

The tank also exerts additional pressure on the cleaning roller, which ensures a good center of gravity and better cleaning. If you then take a look at the cleaning unit from below, you will notice the rimless design of the brush. A comb behind it is designed to remove hair from the brush.

But we know this from the basic model as well as the motorized wheels that help you push the 5.6 kg household helper. What is new, however, is the practical LED lighting at the front. This ensures that you can see dirt on the floor more easily. The eponymous innovation, however, is the steam unit, which emits steam to the floor via six nozzles on the underside.

Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus Test: Proven comfort functions

With the Tineco Floor One Stretch S6 (Review | € 379.05 *), the manufacturer presented its first in-house vacuum cleaner last year, which made a major problem with conventional models a thing of the past. While clunky models of the past could only fit under flat furniture with the cleaning unit, the Stretch S6 could be laid 180° flat on the floor for the first time.

Of course, you also benefit from this great advantage with the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus. And that’s not the only comfort feature that we already know from the S7 Stretch. The Steam model also comes with a practical display, motorized wheels for easy rolling and the reliable iLoop dirt sensor. The latter ensures that I used the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus almost exclusively in auto mode.

Here, the model adjusts its water flow rate and suction power to the respective degree of soiling. Alternatively, there are three other modes available. Firstly, there is Max mode. If you select this, you get the maximum performance. You should select Suction mode if you want to vacuum up liquids. In Steam mode, the name says it all. If you select this, the device heats up first. It then releases the steam and you can get started.

Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus Test: Hot steam and LED

If you are interested in the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus, you will inevitably ask yourself whether the 70 euro cheaper basic model is not enough. Strictly speaking, you get two additional features for the extra cost. The whole thing can be compared a little with the ratio of Dreame H15 Pro (€ 549.00 *) to Dreame H15 Pro Heat (Review | € 644.00 *).

The steam nozzles are located directly above the cleaning roller

If you like, the Steam model from Tineco is a mixture of the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch and Tineco Floor One S7 Steam (Review | € 589.00 *). The Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus offers the decisive advantage that, unlike the Floor One S7 Steam, it can also be laid flat. In terms of steam technology, however, both follow the same path. The proven HyperSteam technology is used.

The steam clouds are hard to miss in steam mode. Things really heat up here!

Here, 140°C hot steam is generated in the cleaning unit and heated continuously. The constant heating is designed to ensure that the temperature of the steam does not fall below 99°C when it reaches the floor. This should not only make it easier to clean stubborn stains. On top of that, the hot steam effectively kills bacteria.

The big advantage over conventional cleaning: The steam develops its cleaning power through the high temperature alone. You don’t need any cleaning agents here, which should be of particular interest to families with small children and pet owners. Another new feature worth seeing is the LED unit on the front of the vacuum cleaner. This allows you to see dirt much more clearly.

Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus Test: No cleaning solution

I actually expected the cleaning performance of the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus to be similar to that of the basic model. However, if you activate the steam mode, the new vacuum cleaner from Tineco is even more powerful. This is where the combination of vacuum cleaner and steam cleaner really shines and takes on even the most stubborn dirt.

In the test, I was able to remove a jam stain that had dried for 24 hours with just a few swipes. However, the situation is different when just wiping. And that’s not because the Tineco, with its 22,000 pascal suction power and impressive water flow rate, is weak on the chest.

Rather, the steam model has the decisive disadvantage that it must not be used with the proven cleaning solution from Tineco or another manufacturer. Otherwise, damage to the appliance could occur during steam production.

Without a cleaning solution, however, you don’t just have to do without a pleasant smell. In my opinion, the system also cleans slightly worse. As steam mode is not always active, you can of course add detergent to the fresh water tank if necessary and empty it again and fill it with clean tap water before using the steam function.

The steam model of the S7 Stretch scores points for edge cleaning

But in my opinion, this is a little cumbersome. I would have found it much more practical if Tineco had simply installed a small separate tank for cleaning agent and then only added the cleaning agent automatically when required.

So the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus is really only suitable for you if your focus is clearly on the steam function and you perhaps want to do without detergent altogether for ecological or health reasons. There are also slight deductions for corner cleaning.

Although Tineco promises three-sided edge cleaning, the plan doesn’t quite work out. The rimless roller may produce really great results when cleaning along skirting boards, but when you approach a skirting board head-on, there is always a small amount of debris left behind. This is where Dreame has the edge with its AI-controlled robotic arm from the H15 Pro series, which grabs dirt and pulls it away from edges.

Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus Test: Self-cleaning in 5 minutes

When it comes to ease of maintenance, the Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus is once again impressive. This is due to the extensive self-cleaning with the proven FlashDry system. As part of the multi-stage self-cleaning process, not only is the roller cleaned with heated water during bidirectional rotation.

The rest of the system, including the fresh water pipe and waste water pipe, is also cleaned intensively. The cleaning process is followed by hot air drying at up to 85°C. Afterwards, the cleaning roller feels as fluffy and dry as new.

Of course, this fast drying process is also correspondingly loud. If you are a little more patient, the SilentDry mode not only protects your ears but also saves energy. Here, the hot air is slightly less hot, which is why the drying time is also increased to 40 minutes.

Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus test: 80 minutes battery life

We should also mention a rather invisible innovation compared to the basic model. The Tineco Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus is said to offer an impressive battery life of up to 80 minutes in pure mopping mode. By comparison, the classic Floor One S7 Stretch has a battery life of 50 minutes. In steam mode, it should still be a very good 30 minutes.

Image: Tineco

The increase in battery life is made possible by the new battery cells. These should not only offer more runtime. Tineco also promises three times the service life and more safety. More longevity sounds really good. Nevertheless, I would have preferred a replaceable battery. But unfortunately you won’t find this in any vacuum cleaner.

Conclusion

With the Floor One S7 Stretch Steam Plus, Tineco once again demonstrates why the brand is one of the leading manufacturers in the vacuum mopping sector. The appliance combines the proven strengths of the basic model – such as the flat stretch design, simple operation, the iLoop sensor and effective self-cleaning – with the new steam function and practical LED lighting. The 140°C steam in particular provides a real boost to hygiene and makes it easier to remove even stubborn stains without the need for cleaning agents. However, steam technology also has its limitations: anyone who likes to work with scented or special cleaning agents will quickly reach their limits here, as these cannot be used permanently.

Corner cleaning also has room for improvement despite good approaches. In addition, a separate tank for cleaner would have significantly increased the practical benefits. On the other hand, the S7 Stretch Steam Plus scores points with a significantly improved battery life of up to 80 minutes, convenient self-cleaning including hot air drying and overall very high-quality ease of use. The bottom line is that the upgrade is particularly worthwhile for households that value maximum hygiene, want to do without cleaning agents or want to consciously take advantage of the benefits of hot steam. On the other hand, those who mainly want to mop in the traditional way are best served by the cheaper basic model.
