UWANT is probably a rather unknown manufacturer for many consumers in Germany. However, the company certainly does not deserve to be unknown. After all, with its smart household appliances, it primarily stands for a strong price-performance ratio. We were able to confirm this not only with the UWANT U200 robot vacuum (Review | € 573.00 *), but also in the area of vacuum cleaners. With the UWANT D700, we now want to take a look at another of the manufacturer’s vacuum cleaners. Features such as water electrolysis, flexible handle, combi water tank and push-in charging station should give the higher-priced competition a run for their money.

UWANT D700 Test: Design and workmanship
The UWANT D700 does a lot differently to the competition in terms of optics and is clearly reminiscent of the UWANT D100 (Review | € 319.99 *). Things get exciting at the top end. While pretty much every other vacuum cleaner relies on a rigid handle with control buttons, the D700 uses the so-called AeroErgo Handle.
This adjusts its angle and ensures that you don’t have to move your wrist. A cool feature in my opinion, but unfortunately the grip is a little too smooth for my taste. In my opinion, a little fine-tuning would be in order here. There are two buttons on the handle (on/off and cleaning mode change). The other two control buttons are located on the main unit.
These are used to regulate the voice control and start the smart household helper’s self-cleaning function. On the opposite side is the display, which you can use to read the most important parameters for the vacuum cleaner. These include not only the remaining battery life, but also the current cleaning mode. In addition to the motor, which offers 280 watts of power, the water tank is also located in the main unit.
Strictly speaking, this is a combination water tank that combines a dirty water and fresh water tank. While the dirty water tank comes with a practical sieve to separate solids and liquid, the fresh water tank offers a special aromatization to provide a fresh scent. It continues in the cleaning unit.
There is a small viewing window here, which is hard to miss with its stylish lighting. This is where the electrolysis of the fresh water takes place before it is used for cleaning. In our part of the world, this feature is more of a gimmick, as German tap water is strictly controlled and does not require further sterilization. But the whole thing is still practical. Things get really exciting on the underside.
This is where you can see the large cleaning roller. It’s not just its sheer size that makes it stand out, which promises a large cleaning surface. UWANT has also opted for a D-shaped design, which is striking when you look at it from the side. This shape should ensure that the UWANT offers really powerful corner and edge cleaning.
And not only when it moves sideways along edges, but also when it is moved towards edges. The build quality of the vacuum cleaner is at a solid level. Here, top models such as a Dreame H15 Pro Heat (Review | € 644.00 *) are ahead, but this is also in a different price category.
UWANT D700 Test: Commissioning
It is not rocket science to implement the UWANT D700 as a new vacuum cleaner in the household. This is not least due to the fact that the appliance arrives almost completely pre-assembled. All you have to do is insert the holding bar into the main unit and you’re ready to go. At least in theory. First you have to find a suitable place for the base station. There’s not really anything to consider here.
Of course, it is important that there is a suitable power socket nearby. You should also not place the smart household helper right next to your TV. After all, it can cause a little noise during the self-cleaning process. Before you start cleaning for the first time, you need to fill the 650 ml fresh water tank. Now charge the battery in the base station and you’re ready to go. The D700 needs just under 5 hours for a full charge.
UWANT D700 test: ball joint and 180° design
With a weight of 4.63 kg, the UWANT D700 is anything but lightweight. Fortunately, this is not too noticeable in practice. This is not only because you don’t have to lift it. The roller rotation also supports you during forward movements. Unfortunately, the motorized support only works in one direction. This is a bit of a shame as you can feel the weight, especially when moving backwards.
On the other hand, the ball joint between the motor and cleaning unit makes it lightweight. This allows tight turns to be made, which not only enables quick movements and changes of direction. In combination with the freely rotating wheels, the vacuum mop can also be moved sideways. The 180° design is also particularly practical. The UWANT D700 can be laid flat on the floor, allowing you to vacuum or mop under flat furniture.
UWANT D700 test: Base station with practical retraction aid
Many vacuum cleaners share a common problem with the base station. You usually have to lift the vacuum cleaner to be able to place it in the station. UWANT solves this problem with its GlideNest Island. The name says it all. Instead of having to lift and insert the vacuum cleaner, you can simply glide into it.
At least in theory. In practice, the whole thing is a bit bumpy. In the test, I got stuck on the small edge quite often. But when the whole thing works, it has a decisive advantage. As you don’t have to lift the vacuum cleaner, there is no ugly puddle left on the floor.
UWANT D700 test: 20,000 Pascal, 520 rpm and 35 N
Let’s move on to the supreme discipline: cleaning performance. And this is where the UWANT D700 really surprised me. But let’s start with the bare data. According to the manufacturer, the vacuum cleaner offers a suction power of 20,000 Pascal. In combination with the roller, which rotates at 520 rpm and exerts a pressure of 35 N on the floor, this should ensure comprehensive cleaning. Even with stubborn stains. And the plan actually works. The UWANT can even remove stubborn stains from the floor.
Although it takes a little longer than, for example, a MOVA X4 Pro (Review | € 599.00 *), I personally find the cleaning performance to be really good. With six or seven wipes, even stains from dried jam could be removed. The roller is moistened with 24 individual water nozzles, which ensures efficient moistening of the roller and also saves water. The D-shaped roller only rotates in one direction.
This is annoying in that backward movements sometimes result in smudges. The problem is only solved when you then wipe over it again with a forward movement. However, a scraper on the underside reduces the problem somewhat. The UWANT scores highly when it comes to animal hair. The anti-tangle technology ensures that hair is combed out of the brush and then ends up in the 700 ml dirty water tank. The UWANT D700 offers a total of three different cleaning modes to choose from.
In AI mode, the vacuum cleaner automatically adjusts the power to the respective degree of soiling. The smart household helper uses its dirt sensor to determine the level of dirt. In turbo mode, the appliance delivers full power and maximum water flow, which is of course particularly suitable for heavy soiling. If you only want to vacuum up spilled liquids, you can opt for Dry Suction Mode. Depending on the performance, the battery life is also reduced. The manufacturer specifies a strong value of up to 50 minutes.
UWANT D700 test: D-design for edge cleaning
UWANT has implemented further technical highlights in the D700, which are intended to ensure a strong cleaning performance. Firstly, there is the water electrolysis, which the manufacturer advertises. In the meantime, there are hardly any household appliances in this country that emphasize this special type of UV treatment of fresh water. Why would they? After all, sterilizing the water is rather pointless in view of the high water quality from the tap in this country.
Nevertheless, the whole thing is nice to look at and anyone planning to take the UWANT abroad will of course benefit from it. The PureScent Guard+, on the other hand, is also useful in our climes. Here, a fragrance stick releases a pleasant scent into the fresh water, resulting in a really great room fragrance. The roller design from UWANT is also well thought out.

Thanks to the D-shape, the system really shines with powerful corner and edge cleaning. As the roller also works outwards and, unlike other vacuum cleaners, there is no cover, even tiled walls or skirting boards can be wiped. Only a small uncleaned edge remains in the lower area.
You only need to be careful if you don’t have skirting boards or similar. I could well imagine accidentally moistening or even rubbing off paint or wallpaper on the wall. Personally, I am really positively surprised by the results in the area of corners and edges, even if a small uncleaned edge remains.
UWANT D700 test: self-cleaning and maintenance
The D700’s base station is not only used to charge the battery. It is also used for self-cleaning with 100°C hot water. This is followed by hot air drying with 75°C hot air. After this procedure, the roller feels as fluffy and clean as before.

But every now and then, you will also have to get involved when it comes to maintaining the vacuum cleaner. Fortunately, cleaning the UWANT D700 is child’s play. While most mop vacuums can only be cleaned with the corresponding cleaning tool, you can simply rinse the brush attachment of the D700 in the shower. IPX6 certification makes it possible.
Conclusion
With the D700, UWANT shows once again that the manufacturer does not have to stand in the shadow of the big names. Although the water electrolysis may seem more like a gimmick in everyday life in Germany, many other features offered real added value in the test. The strong suction power in combination with the large D-shaped roller was particularly impressive. The self-cleaning function with hot water and hot air is also a strong argument for everyday use, as it significantly reduces the amount of maintenance required. However, the UWANT D700 is not without its weaknesses.
The heavy weight is noticeable when moving backwards and lifting. All in all, however, the UWANT D700 impresses with a very good price-performance ratio, which makes it an exciting alternative to higher-priced premium models. If you are looking for a powerful, well-made and cleverly equipped vacuum cleaner, you will find an appliance that is a pleasure to use every day and ensures clean floors – even in corners and edges.
