TECLAST Artpad Pro test: design and workmanship

The Teclast Artpad Pro has a clear, functional design without unnecessary frills. The back is made of aluminum, which not only ensures a high-quality feel, but also contributes to stability.

With dimensions of 279 × 211 × 7.2 mm and a weight of 674 g, it fits comfortably in the hand despite its size, even if a storage surface is recommended for longer use. The edges of the display are slightly thicker than those of some premium competitors, which may not look quite as modern, but in practice is definitely an advantage: there is enough space to hold the device without unintentionally triggering inputs on the screen. Overall, the workmanship is excellent and the tablet makes a robust, durable impression.

In addition to the classic power button on the top and the volume buttons on the right-hand side, the manufacturer has included a smart button at the bottom right of the frame. This switches between different modes at the touch of a button, which is exciting depending on the application:

The color mode brings the classic tablet experience. The E-Ink mode in black and white is suitable for reading books and the like, while the pastel mode reduces the color intensity and is ideal for drawing.

On the right is also the SIM card slot, a hybrid slot that accepts two nano-SIMs or an additional microSD card. Very cool: The stylus is included in the scope of delivery. It can be charged via USB-C, is recognized immediately after switching on and attaches magnetically to the top of the tablet.

The display of the ArtPad Pro

The heart of the Artpad Pro is the 12.7-inch IPS display with a resolution of 2176 × 1600 pixels in 7:5 format. This aspect ratio is particularly interesting for creative work, productivity tools and reading documents, as it offers more vertical space than classic 16:10 or 16:9 displays.

With its diagonal screen size, the Artpad Pro is of course correspondingly large, but offers a lot of space for content and creative development – after all, the device is aimed at creative minds who like to draw or sketch.

The pixel density is high enough to display content sharply, and the color reproduction is vibrant and vivid. The brightness and scanning rate are not specified in the official data sheet, but in practical use the panel delivers a pleasant picture overall. Only the frame rate of 60 Hz is somewhat disappointing. Anyone who wants to play games on the tablet would be happy to see more Hertz.

Features and technology

The MediaTek Helio G99 works inside – an octa-core processor with a clock frequency of up to 2.2 GHz, which is more than sufficient for everyday applications and moderate multitasking scenarios. The fact that the chip is therefore more at home in the entry-level or mid-range segment is hardly noticeable in practice.

Teclast Artpad Pro

At least if you don’t want to play with it. This is because the chip quickly reaches its limits when it comes to more intensive tasks or gaming use. The processor is supported by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card. This means there is enough space for apps, media files and creative projects.

Other features include:

  • Dual SIM 4G (incl. band 20)
  • Dual-band WLAN for fast internet connections
  • Bluetooth 5.2 for modern peripherals
  • GPS with support for BDS, GLONASS and Galileo
  • USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer

Unfortunately, the speed and stability of the WiFi signal is only average and the tablet cannot access the full bandwidth. However, the connection with Bluetooth devices is reliable and stable.

However, TECLAST does not offer any biometric options, so there is neither a fingerprint sensor nor facial recognition available for logging in. This is not a tragedy, as unlocking with a PIN is also quick and easy. A total of four speakers are installed, two on each side, which deliver a full and good sound.

Cameras have also been considered: 13 MP main camera on the back and 8 MP front camera for video conferences or snapshots. Although the cameras are not professional tools, they serve their purpose in everyday tablet use. However, you shouldn’t really expect much. The dynamic range and image sharpness are rather mixed.

The included T-Pen offers 4,096 pressure levels and supports USI 2.0. Menu navigation with the pen is easily possible via touch, but it does not have any other special functions. However, it is very suitable for drawing and sketching content.

Performance and battery life

In everyday use, the Artpad Pro runs quite smoothly as long as no extremely performance-hungry applications or complex 3D games are started. The performance is perfectly adequate for web surfing, word processing, video streaming and creative drawing apps. However, the animations are not quite as smooth as on more expensive tablets, partly due to the 60 Hz.

Benchmark Result
Geekbench 6 Multi Core 2,005 pts.
Geekbench 6 Single Core 726 pts.
Geekbench 6 GPU 1,298 pts.
Geekbench AI 478 / 497 / 939 pts.
PCMark Work 3.0 9,017 pts.
3DMark Wild Life Extreme 341 pts.
3DMark Wild Life 1,063 pts.
3DMark Steel Nomad Light 134 pts.

The Artpad Pro performs quite well in benchmark tests, but the weak CPU and GPU take their toll here. Nevertheless, the everyday performance is absolutely sufficient.

Particularly impressive is the 10,000 mAh battery, which, according to the manufacturer, enables a battery life of up to 30 hours – an above-average value for a tablet of this size. Thanks to the included power adapter, the battery can be recharged quickly with a maximum of 30 watts, so that even longer working days or trips can be survived without any problems.Teclast Artpad Pro

Practical test and software

In practical use, the Teclast Artpad Pro scores particularly well for creative tasks. Support for a stylus with 4096 pressure levels enables precise drawing, sketching and handwritten notes.

Android 15 is used as the operating system, which ensures an up-to-date software base. The Google Widevine L1 certification is particularly pleasing, thanks to which streaming services such as Netflix or Amazon Prime can be used in full HD resolution.

The user interface is tidy and can be operated without any significant delays. Multitasking, such as working in a drawing app and a reference document display at the same time, also works smoothly. All Google apps are included and new applications can be easily downloaded from the Playstore.

Teclast Artpad Pro

Encouragingly for a manufacturer from China, there is virtually no unwanted bloatware installed. The manufacturer only includes a Kids Space and a practical drawing and painting app in addition to the classic Google apps.

Teclast Artpad Pro Review: Conclusion

With the Teclast Artpad Pro, the manufacturer offers an exciting price-performance tip. Here you get a lot of tablet for comparatively little money. The large and high-resolution tablet not only offers plenty of space for media streaming and content, but also space for drawing, painting and taking notes.

There is also a SIM card slot and the option to expand the memory via microSD, which is particularly rare in this price range. The performance is absolutely sufficient for normal users and poses no problems in everyday use, but the tablet is naturally less suitable for gaming, video editing or rendering.

And yet: The Teclast Artpad Pro is an absolutely attractive Android tablet at a really appealing price. Especially now on release, when you can get it for just 219.99 euros with a huge discount and the promo code ARTPADPR.
