Corsair Sabre v2 Pro

Anyone who thought that a gaming mouse weighing around 50 grams was already “ultra-light” has done the math without the new Corsair Sabre v2 Pro. It’s only about as heavy as a letter or a tea bag: the rodent weighs just 36 grams and still doesn’t lack any high-end features. Our test reveals more.

Corsair Sabre v2 Pro review: Compact ultra-lightweight

I could hardly believe it when I held the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro in my hands for the first time. The manufacturer’s new gaming mouse weighs just 36 grams, compared to a Razer DeathAdder V4 Pro (our test) at 56 grams or the ASUS ROG Harpe II Ace (our test) at 48 grams.

Corsair Sabre v2 Pro

Like most other gaming mice, the Sabre v2 Pro has a plastic housing that is pleasantly robust despite its closed design and low weight. The rodent is available in either a white or black color scheme, both of which have a pleasantly grippy, textured surface for a comfortable feel in the hand.

With dimensions of 119.16 mm x 62.55 mm x 38.21 mm, the Corsair mouse is also noticeably more compact than most of its competitors, which makes it particularly interesting for those with small or medium-sized hands – the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro is therefore ideal for my small paws and fits perfectly in the hand.

Visually, the mouse has a total of five buttons, two of which are easily accessible on the left-hand side. The rubberized scroll wheel with excellent rasterization has a yellow frame on both sides, but the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro does not have RGB lighting.

The scope of delivery is lavish. In addition to the mouse, Corsair not only includes a USB-C receiver with a practical clip for the mouse pad, but also a fabric-covered USB-A to USB-C cable, a very comfortable grip tape and three additional optional sliding surfaces for the underside.

The scope of delivery of the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro

Despite the low weight, the build quality is excellent and offers no cause for criticism. Only the clicks of the two primary keys are confirmed by a somewhat hollow sound – a phenomenon that we have recently observed with some gaming mice.

Top features and a powerful battery

A 36 gram mouse for only around 110 euros – surely this is only aimed at beginners and occasional gamers, right? Pah: Wrong thinking. The Corsair Sabre v2 Pro comes with top modern features that leave nothing to be desired.

The built-in Marksman S sensor has an impressive resolution of a whopping 33,000 DPI, which can be adjusted in 50 DPI increments. A speed of 750 IPS and an acceleration of 50G ensure extremely precise swipes and fast movements.

Corsair Sabre v2 Pro

Sure, some competitors offer more here (the DeathAdder V4 Pro, for example, has 45,000 DPI, 900 IPS and 85G) – but to be honest, hardly anyone uses such extreme values anyway. For an estimated 99 percent of gamers, the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro offers absolutely everything they could possibly need.

At 8,000 Hz, the polling rate is also at the top level of the best gaming mice currently available and implements mouse movements in an impressive 0.125 ms.

Corsair Sabre v2 Pro

The Corsair Sabre v2 Pro only lacks two things: on the one hand, as already mentioned, RGB lighting (which I can easily do without) and on the other, a Bluetooth mode. The connection is exclusively via USB or wired. In my opinion, this is acceptable.

What the mouse does not offer, however, is a dedicated DPI button. So if you often need to change the resolution, you always have to go through the software. How important this is certainly depends on personal preference: I don’t care at all, I always use the same DPI value anyway.

Up to 70 hours of battery life

Despite the compact housing, the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro delivers an excellent battery life. Up to 70 hours are possible if you make do with a polling rate of 1,000 Hz, but at the maximum of 8,000 Hz the runtime is then reduced to just 16 hours.

These are by no means record-breaking values, but absolutely sufficient to play for days on end without having to supply the mouse with power.

Goodbye, iCUE – hello, web interface

The Corsair Sabre v2 Pro also deserves praise for its customization. This is because Corsair, like many other manufacturers, now also relies on a practical web interface. This means that you can make all settings directly via the browser and don’t have to use the in-house iCUE software.

The mouse is immediately and reliably recognized once it has been called up. The interface makes a clean and clear impression and allows you to make settings in three tabs. Up to four profiles can also be set here, but unfortunately only one profile can be saved in the onboard memory.

The options correspond to the usual standards: four of the five buttons can be freely and individually assigned. The resolution can also be adjusted in a total of five DPI levels.

In the “Macro Manager” section, you can also create extensive macros and save them directly on the mouse. In the device settings, you can also adjust the polling rate, set the time before switching to sleep mode or perform firmware updates.

Corsair Sabre v2 Pro test: Conclusion

If you think you have to make any compromises with the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro due to its low weight and affordable price, you are (fortunately) wrong. Weighing just 36 grams, the gaming mouse has everything that professionals could wish for: A fast and precise sensor, five buttons, very good gliding properties and an ultra-fast connection.

The mouse doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to battery life and customizability either, and all at a really attractive price. People with small or medium-sized hands who are looking for a handy and powerful rodent can purchase the Corsair Sabre v2 Pro without hesitation. The only things missing are a dedicated DPI button and Bluetooth connectivity.
