Scope of delivery

The scope of delivery is of course different to the normal R5 bundle: In addition to the pedals, the trucking steering wheel, a special table clamp and a presumably new version of the R5 base are included. This has more connection points than the version we tested a year ago. On top, there are a few stickers for – if required – color optimizations on the steering wheel.

The entire bundle contains everything you need to get started right away.

Assembly

The assembly of the Moza R5 Trucking Bundle is pleasantly uncomplicated and can be completed in just a few minutes. Only the special truck table clamp is different – but it is just as easy to fit.

The steering wheel is attached to the base using the quick-release mechanism and fixed in place in just a few simple steps. No tools are required and the steering wheel can be removed just as quickly at any time. The robust truck clamp ensures that a realistic, steep steering wheel angle can be set as required. The attachment to the table works without tools, but is still very stable – a real advantage, especially for truck simulations with a large truck steering wheel.

As a test, the truck clamp was deliberately mounted “incorrectly” to allow it to be used for normal steering wheels without a sharp angle. This also works and should be sufficient for most users.

The cabling is self-explanatory thanks to the clear connector types: all cables only fit into the intended connection and are clearly labeled on the back of the base so that errors are practically impossible. Connecting the pedals and optional add-ons is also quick: the pedal unit is connected via an RJ45 plug, and there are also additional holes to vary the pedal spacing individually.

The Trucking Bundle is therefore ready for use very quickly and the installation differs only slightly from the standard set – with the advantage of the table clamp designed for trucking.

The updated R5 Base

Technically, the R5 Base is identical: the same realistic driving experience thanks to “Direct Drive” and a torque of 5.5 Nm. However, there are differences when looking at the connection options: significantly more accessories can now be connected directly to the base. A nice further development!

The TSW truck steering wheel

The TSW truck steering wheel of the Moza R5 Trucking Bundle is specially designed for truck simulations and comes with numerous details that make the steering wheel the highlight of the bundle.

With a diameter of around 40 cm, the TSW steering wheel is significantly larger than classic racing wheels and thus corresponds to the typical dimensions and feel of a real truck steering wheel. Even at first touch, the high-quality artificial leather looks very robust and conveys an authentic, solid driving feel. The quality of workmanship here is also of a very high standard.

If you look at the front, you immediately notice the numerous programmable buttons, joysticks and thumbwheels. Each button impresses with a rich pressure point, which ensures precision when driving heavy trucks and prevents operating errors – but for some, it is a little too rich. Particularly practical: the large number of assignable controls allows you to directly control various functions such as cruise control, indicators, high beam or air horn without having to take your hands off the steering wheel.

As usual with Moza, the connection to the base is made via the quick-release mechanism. This makes it easy to attach and remove the TSW steering wheel. Gold-plated contacts ensure reliable transmission of all inputs.

Overall, the TSW truck steering wheel has everything you need for an authentic experience in Euro Truck Simulator 2, American Truck Simulator and similar titles. The quality and realistic feel are noticeably designed for longevity and intensive simulation.

Software

The heart of the control and configuration of the Moza R5 Trucking Bundle is the in-house MOZA Pit House software. All currently connected components such as the base, truck steering wheel and pedals are clearly displayed on the start page.

The most important menu items are clearly structured – all setting options from basic values to detailed adjustments can be found on the left, while on the right there is the option to start selected simulators directly from the software. This is a really convenient feature, especially for users who regularly switch between different games.

Already familiar from the test of the R5 Standard Bundle, MOZA Pit House offers numerous setting options:

  • Adjustment of the force feedback: Here, the torque can be adjusted according to personal taste.

  • Additional fine adjustments for the driving experience, such as damping, road feedback or vibrations.

  • Pre-installed presets especially for trucks: If you want, you can start immediately with pre-set profiles without having to read in or experiment for a long time – ideal for beginners, but advanced riders will also find useful starting values.

The TSW truck steering wheel is automatically recognized by the software and is often directly supported by simulators – for example in Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator.
All in all, MOZA Pit House offers both beginners and professionals all the tools they need to make the driving experience in the truck simulator as authentic as possible – be it with quick presets or by fine-tuning the parameters. The interaction of hardware and software ensures that the Trucking Bundle is not only ready to use very quickly, but also remains customizable in the long term.

Driving experience with the R5 Trucking Bundle

In practical use with truck simulators such as Euro Truck Simulator 2 and American Truck Simulator, the Moza R5 Trucking Bundle works exactly as you would expect from a specialized hardware solution. The SR-P Lite pedals were used in the test without the optional performance kit for the brake pedal, which did not result in any restrictions in everyday trucking. The pedals are immediately ready for use and respond precisely, the only thing that should not be neglected is mounting: Without firm attachment, they slip easily on smooth floors despite the rubber coating and can tip over when pressed harder. It is therefore advisable to fix the pedals either to the rig or to a stable surface in order to exploit their full potential.

The core element – the base and the large truck steering wheel – work perfectly together. The realistic steering wheel size immediately provides the right truck feeling, which, in combination with the precise feedback of the force feedback, conveys a tangible feeling for the weight and inertia of the virtual trucks. The buttons on the steering wheel have a high-quality finish and offer clear pressure points; they are a little more stiff than on small racing steering wheels.

When driving, you can literally feel the vehicle: especially with older American truck models, engine vibrations and running can be felt – a detail that significantly increases the immersion and is clearly superior to the experience with a simple controller or a generic racing steering wheel. The driving experience with the R5 Trucking Bundle is coherent all round, impresses with its direct feedback and gives the impression of actually sitting behind the wheel of a real truck. For fans of truck simulations, the bundle is therefore a clear upgrade over standard solutions.

Conclusion on the Moza R5 Trucking Bundle test

The Moza R5 Trucking Bundle* sets new standards for truck simulator fans and, in our opinion, is highly recommended if you value a realistic and high-quality driving experience. Every component impresses with its well thought-out design and quality that immediately catches the eye. The modular design of the system also allows the set to be expanded flexibly: If you want to switch to classic racing from time to time, you can simply fit a different Moza steering wheel and continue using the setup – a real plus in terms of versatility.

In everyday use, the bundle noticeably increases immersion in games such as Euro Truck Simulator 2 or American Truck Simulator. The realistic truck steering wheel, the powerful base and the many assignable buttons ensure an extremely authentic feeling at the wheel and make every virtual tour a real highlight. The overall high quality of all components reinforces the impression of a coherent overall package.

A little practical tip: To prevent the experience from being spoiled by slipping pedals, it is recommended that the SR-P Lite pedals are firmly attached to the ground or rig. With this simple step, nothing stands in the way of that truck feeling.

In short: The Moza R5 Trucking Bundle* is the perfect choice for anyone who wants to take their truck simulation to the next level without compromising on quality or flexibility. High-quality workmanship, a strong driving experience and the option to expand make the set an all-round convincing package for ambitious sim fans.
