Great times for fans of unusual gaming headsets: After Pokémon fans were able to enjoy the Razer Kraken Kitty V2 Gengar Edition (our review) just in time for gamescom 2025, the manufacturer is now following suit. With the brand new Kitty V3 series, you can expect a high-quality and powerful gaming headset with the typical illuminated cat ears. The top model in the form of the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro presents itself as a convincing audio solution that meets even the most demanding requirements. Our test.

Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro: Iconic cat ears with lighting
- Cool kitty look
- excellent workmanship; chic RGB lighting
- High wearing comfort despite high weight
More light! While the Gengar Edition came with restrained RGB lighting, the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro finally offers the full program again. Illuminated ear cups, colored logo and colorful cat ears – if desired, even reactive and in different colors for both sides.
Particularly cool: The RGB lighting reacts dynamically to live events and synchronizes on demand with over 300 games and 500 devices from more than 50 partners. Of course, this is particularly exciting for streamers who want to see the colorful details in the picture.
The Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is a real eye-catcher. The eye-catching cat ears, which can be individually configured with RGB lighting, are not just a visual gimmick, but also fit perfectly into the overall design. Unlike some decorative gaming headsets, everything here looks well thought out and robust, the ear cups and headband are well made and immediately convey a feeling of quality.
However, with a weight of around 390 g, the headset is certainly no lightweight. However, the thick padding on the ear cups and headband makes it surprisingly comfortable to wear. The memory foam ear pads with protein synthetic leather nestle very comfortably against the ears and ensure a pleasant wearing comfort even during long gaming sessions. Another positive feature is that the ear cups can be rotated so that the headset sits comfortably when placed on the shoulders.

The design clearly appeals to a target group that focuses on both gaming aesthetics and individuality. The RGB lighting on the ear cups can be freely customized in Synapse, making the headphones almost a fashion statement.
Features and operation
- Wireless, Bluetooth 5.3 and wired operation
- Successful operation
The features of the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro are incredibly versatile and don’t have to hide behind even the best gaming headsets. The headset supports wireless 2.4 GHz connections, Bluetooth 5.3 and a classic wired 3.5 mm connection. This flexibility makes it interesting for PC, consoles and mobile devices.
So if you want to play games via Bluetooth, you can do so without any problems. Mobile music listening is also possible, although the Kitty V3 Pro only uses the standard AAC and SBC codecs.

The latency in wireless mode is pleasantly low thanks to Razer’s HyperSpeed wireless technology. In addition, the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro can be paired simultaneously via wireless and Bluetooth. Although simultaneous use is unfortunately not possible, you will receive calls on your ears if the device is connected via both standards.
A USB-C dongle for wireless mode is included, as well as a USB-C charging cable and adapter. Setup is quick and easy, while the headset is immediately ready for use on any platform.
The controls on the headset are extensive: power, volume, microphone mute, game/chat balance and the “Smartswitch” button for quickly switching between connection profiles or audio presets are provided. The ability to balance between game and chat audio is particularly useful for multiplayer sessions.
In my opinion, Razer should have placed the controls a little further apart. They are arranged very close together, which makes it somewhat difficult to feel them blindly while playing.
Point of criticism: The controls are positioned somewhat close together and the game/chat slider is in an unfortunate position, making it easy to accidentally adjust.
Up to 70 hours of battery life
- Up to 70 hours runtime without RGB
- Almost 27 hours of use with lighting
The battery life of the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is okay. On paper, up to 70 hours of use sounds pretty impressive. However, this only applies to use with RGB lighting deactivated – and let’s be honest: if you’re going to use it, you want bling bling.
With RGB enabled, the runtime is then reduced to a rather meagre 25-30 hours. That’s solid and enough for several days of gaming, but not much more. Nevertheless, it is a significant improvement on the Kraken V3 Pro, which was released around three years ago and only lasted 44 hours without RGB.

Charging is via USB-C, which enables a fast charging time. The battery is fully charged within around two hours, which is particularly practical if you want to charge the headset overnight.
App connection: Razer Synapse
Razer Synapse is the central control tool for the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro. All important settings can be made here, from RGB lighting and equalizer to game/chat balance. The software offers a 10-band equalizer with various presets that are optimized for music, games and films. You can also create and save your own profiles.
The RGB lighting can be customized and the Chroma integration makes it possible to synchronize effects with other Razer devices. If you like, you can also switch on ambient detection, which allows the headset to adjust the lighting based on sounds from the surroundings.
Another practical feature is the ability to adjust microphone and audio settings directly via the app, including noise reduction, bass boost or normalization and even your own microphone equalizer. This allows versatile fine-tuning of the microphone for various applications such as streaming or voice chats.
Audio and microphone quality
- high-quality 40 mm drivers
- high frequency band
- lively, full and detailed sound; THX Spatial Audio
You shouldn’t expect any technical innovations from the Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro. The headset uses the familiar 40 mm TriForce Titanium drivers, which we also know from the BlackShark V2 Pro, for example, with a size of 50 mm. However, they are also smaller than the 50 mm counterpart of the normal Razer Kraken V3 Pro, but cover a frequency band from 20 Hz to 28,000 Hz
In return, they offer a unique architecture: they are divided into three separate components that clearly separate the bass, mids and treble from each other and display them individually. In practice, this ensures a clear, balanced sound in which treble, mid-range and bass are reproduced in a differentiated manner.
The headset allows precise localization of opponents and ambient noise, especially in games such as shooters or action titles. Movies or music also benefit from the clean separation of frequencies, even in stereo sound. Bass is pleasantly powerful, but does not overpower the detailed mids and airy highs.
The result is a really convincing sound that is on a par with the current top model BlackShark V3 Pro (our test) and is SIGNIFICANTLY superior to the sound of the Kitty V2 Gengar Edition.
THX Spatial Audio technology offers immersive 360° spatial sound, which improves spatial perception, especially in multiplayer shooters or AAA games. Razer really delivers across the board here, the Kitty V3 Pro sounds outstanding.
Microphone quality
- High-resolution microphone
- many settings
- good sound
The microphone of the Kraken Kitty V3 Pro delivers clear voice transmission, after all, the HyperClear super wideband microphone is also an old acquaintance. It records unidirectionally from one direction and reproduces a frequency response of 100 Hz to 10,000 Hz.
It has a sampling rate of 48,000 Hz at 16 bit and can be additionally optimized via Synapse settings, including EQ, noise reduction and speech enhancement.

While the voice seems a little thin, the software provides a natural presence that is sufficient for streaming, voice chat or calls. Speech intelligibility is excellent, although some voices are somewhat sharp.
Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro Review: Conclusion
The Razer Kraken Kitty V3 Pro is so much more than just a nice design gimmick. The wireless gaming headset is particularly impressive in terms of sound and is right up there with the best gaming headsets. The detailed sound, THX Spatial Audio and really good microphone quality make it a convincing all-rounder that also cuts a fine figure via Bluetooth on a smartphone if desired.
The wearing comfort is also impressive, despite the rather high weight, while the features can be highly customized via the software. The really cool RGB lighting and cat ears are more than just a gimmick.
