Apple fans and technology enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the next generation of iPhones. With the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro and even the iPhone 17 Air, major innovations are on the horizon. The new smartphones are expected to be released in September 2025. Here you can find an overview of all the latest iPhone rumors.
iPhone 17 Pro with 8x zoom and new app?
A new leak about the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro is currently causing a stir. The iPhone rumors allegedly originate from a current commercial that is currently being produced for Apple and were leaked to the website MacRumors.
One of the most surprising revelations concerns the zoom of the telephoto camera: according to the leak, Apple will no longer rely on the 5x magnification of the iPhone 16 Pro, but on a continuous optical 8x zoom – a technology that has so far been found almost exclusively at Sony. Unlike most smartphones, which use fixed zoom levels (e.g. 3x or 5x), Apple could work with a variable focal length – similar to a classic camera lens.

Another highlight is a planned Pro Camera app from Apple itself. This would give ambitious users access to functions that were previously only available via third-party apps such as Halide, Filmic Pro or Kino. These include manual settings for ISO, shutter speed, white balance and focus, as well as advanced video formats and exposure options.
Apart from the software and camera optics, there are also references to smaller, but no less interesting design changes. A second camera control button on the top of the device could be particularly useful when shooting in portrait format – whether for triggering or quickly activating certain camera modes.
iPhone 17: New design: flatter, thinner – and another model?
Apple could revise the design of the iPhone 17 more than in previous years. Several sources are reporting that an even thinner casing is planned, with a slimmer frame and revised rear design. Particularly interesting: For the first time, a completely new model could appear – the so-called “iPhone 17 Slim”, which according to rumors could replace or supplement the Ultra model.
This “Slim” model will not only be particularly thin and light, but will also set new standards in display technology. It could be positioned as a technical flagship – with exclusive features that cannot be found in either the Pro or the standard model. However, whether the iPhone 17 Slim will actually become a reality remains speculative for the time being.
There could also be changes to the display and sensor technology. Several analysts assume that Apple is still working on a smaller notch or even a Face ID system that is completely hidden under the display. Advances in sensor integration and display technology could ensure that the iPhone 17 has an almost borderless front design – possibly exclusively for the high-end models.
There is also speculation that Face ID could work faster and more reliably, possibly with better recognition in poor lighting conditions or at unusual viewing angles. Integration under the panel is technically feasible, but not yet officially confirmed.
More iPhone rumors: New colors, deeper logo, camera button
Further details mainly concern the exterior: a leak is circulating which suggests that the Apple logo on the back could be slightly deeper in future – possibly for design reasons or for new MagSafe accessories. A second camera button on the top is also being discussed. This could bring advantages when taking photos and filming in portrait format.
There are likely to be new accents in the color scheme. A copper color variant is currently being discussed as a possible highlight – a classy, shimmering metallic alternative to the classic space, silver and blue tones.
iPhone 17 series: these colors are expected to be available
The iPhone 17 series is to be offered in a whole range of new colors. These have already been confirmed by several leakers, so it can be assumed that we can look forward to a new color palette:

iPhone rumors: All iPhone 17 with 120 Hz display
So far, only the Pro models in the iPhone lineup have been equipped with a 120 Hz LTPO display. This is apparently set to change with the iPhone 17 generation in 2025. According to the Korean website ETNews, Apple is planning to use LTPO OLED panels in all four iPhone 17 models.
This would not only double the refresh rate of the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus, but also ensure that the frame rate changes dynamically, which would have a positive effect on battery life.
It is also said that the displays of the next iPhone generation will be provided by Samsung Display (iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus) and LG (iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max).
iPhone 17 Pro: These innovations are expected
The iPhone 16 Pro has only just been released when the rumor mill for its successor is already starting to churn. The latest rumors about the iPhone 17 Pro point to exciting new features.
It is expected that all models (including the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus) will get a 24 MP front camera, while the iPhone 17 Pro Max may get a 48 MP telephoto camera and 12 GB RAM.
The expansion of the RAM in particular would noticeably improve the performance of Apple Intelligence and multitasking. Another highlight could be a scaled-down Dynamic Island. These rumors are based on statements by analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo and seem plausible in the context of Apple’s strategy.
iPhone 17 Air / Slim – particularly slim model planned?
The year 2025 will be dominated by the iPhone 17 series at Apple. In addition to the familiar models such as the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Plus, iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Max, we could also expect another variant that could possibly replace one of the four models:
The iPhone 17 Air.
The Air model was originally referred to as the “Slim” model, which already makes it clear what we can expect from the smartphone: a particularly slim device.
According to current iPhone rumors, the iPhone 17 Air will have a much thinner body than the manufacturer’s current models, which is also made of lightweight aluminum.
There is talk of a smaller 6.6-inch display with a smaller Dynamic Island. However, the screen should also enable a dynamic refresh rate thanks to ProMotion technology. On the other hand, the resolution of the front camera should increase to 24 megapixels. However, there is only space for a single camera at the back.
Furthermore, the iPhone 17 Air is said to come with 8 GB of RAM and the new A19 chip, which is manufactured using the 3 nm process and should therefore be significantly more energy-efficient.
However, these innovations come at a price: as the website MacRumors reports, citing The Information, the thinner iPhone 17 will be more expensive than the Pro Max model, which currently starts at a price of 1,449 euros (or 1,199 US dollars).
As always, the rumors should of course be taken with a grain of salt.
iPhone SE4 becomes iPhone 16e
As expected, Apple has unveiled the iPhone 16e, which replaces the iPhone SE4. A new addition to the iPhone 16 range, offering powerful features at a more affordable price. With the A18 chip, the in-house C1 cellular modem and an impressive 48 megapixel camera, the iPhone 16e is aimed at users who value performance and quality.
Key features of the iPhone 16e:
- A18 chip: Fast and smooth performance for demanding applications.
- Apple C1 modem: First cellular modem developed by Apple for efficient 5G connectivity.
- 48-megapixel Fusion Camera: High-resolution photos and videos with 2x optical zoom.
- Apple Intelligence: Integrated AI system for personalized and privacy-friendly user experiences.

The iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display with OLED technology that delivers brilliant colors and razor-sharp images. The all-screen design is ideal for watching HDR videos, playing games or reading texts. The Ceramic Shield front and the robust glass on the back offer increased protection against drops and scratches. The device is also water and dust resistant in accordance with the IP68 standard.
Is an iPhone Ultra coming?
Other iPhone rumors include a so-called iPhone Ultra, which is said to be even better than the Pro models in terms of performance and features. Similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. However, there is no concrete information on this and this rumor is actually considered rather unlikely. But who knows: perhaps Apple will launch a new Ultra smartphone alongside an Air model with the iPhone 17 model series?
